The Unwelcomed Boy In Grey

The Rich Stepmother Tried To Ruin An Innocent Child

The morning sun cut through the tall glass windows of the grand lakeside estate.

Young Leo pulled tightly at the stiff collar of his grey tailored suit.

He felt completely out of place in the massive mansion on his father's birthday.

His biological mother had passed away three short years before this chaotic day.

His father Arthur was the wealthy chief executive officer of a national investment company.

Arthur had recently married Evelyn, a cold woman obsessed with high social status.

Evelyn treated the young boy like an unwanted ghost inside the huge white house.

She wanted all of Arthur's vast inheritance reserved entirely for her own future children.

Evelyn: Stop dragging your feet like a peasant, Leo.

Leo looked down at his shiny black leather shoes in total silence.

Leo: I was just looking at the portrait of my mother, Evelyn.

Evelyn: That old picture should have been taken down months ago.

She adjust her sparkling green diamond dress with an arrogant flick of her hand.

Evelyn: Today is about your father and my high-society guests, not your mother.

Leo: My dad said I could wear this suit to honor her memory today.

Evelyn: Your dad is far too soft on you, but that changes today.

Sarah adjusted her clean blue waitress apron while setting up the dessert table nearby.

She was working the high-end catering event to support her own young younger sister.

Sarah noticed the tense dynamic between the glamourous woman and the small, trembling boy.

Her heart immediately ached for the quiet child standing near the grand marble staircase.

Sarah: Would you like a fresh cup of organic apple juice, little guy?

Leo smiled softly for the first time all morning and nodded his head timidly.

Leo: Yes please, ma'am. Thank you for asking me.

Evelyn: Do not serve him expensive juice without my personal permission!

Sarah stopped in her tracks and turned around to look directly at Evelyn.

Sarah: The young boy is simply thirsty, ma'am. It is no trouble at all.

Evelyn: You are paid to serve guests, not to bond with useless children.

Leo stepped backward in fear as Evelyn's sharp voice echoed across the open marble foyer.

The boy accidentally bumped into a small wooden pedestal holding a glass antique bowl.

The delicate bowl tipped over the edge and shattered into a hundred jagged pieces.

Evelyn: Look at what you did, you stupid little parasite!

Leo: It was an accident! I promise I didn't mean to touch it!

Evelyn: That bowl cost more than your worthless life!

Evelyn stepped forward angrily, her green dress rustling against the cold marble floor.

She grabbed Leo by his arm and dragged him toward the top of the grand staircase.

Evelyn: Get out of my life right now! Leave this party instantly!

Leo lost his balance on the slippery top step and fell down onto the landing.

He cried out in pure panic as he tumbled near the edge of the hard steps.

Leo: Help me! Please somebody help me!
