Calling The Police

The Poisoned Tea That Revealed My Mother In Laws Secret Plan

Mark reached into his coat pocket and pulled out his private cell phone.

"What are you doing, Mark?" Evelyn asked, her voice cracking with fear.

"I am calling the local police station right now," Mark replied coldly.

"You cannot call the police on your own mother!" Evelyn gasped in shock.

"You attempted to poison my wife and endanger our unborn child," Mark stated.

He dialed three simple numbers and held the phone firmly to his ear.

Evelyn lunged forward to grab the phone, but Mark blocked her arm easily.

"Yes, I need an officer at 412 Maple Street immediately," Mark told the dispatcher.

"My mother put an illegal prescription drug into my pregnant wife's drink."

Evelyn collapsed into an armchair, covering her face with both hands.

She began to weep loudly, but nobody in the room moved to comfort her.

Sarah took Leo into the nearby hallway to keep him safe and calm.

"You did a very brave thing today, Leo," Sarah whispered to her son.

"I was scared she would hurt you, Mom," Leo said, wiping a tear away.

"You saved both me and your new baby sister," Sarah said gently.

Ten minutes later, flashing red and blue lights illuminated the front yard.

Two police officers walked briskly up the concrete walkway to the door.

Mark opened the front door and let the uniformed officers inside.

He explained the whole situation clearly and handed over the teacup.

He also handed the officers the empty paper packet from the counter.

The lead officer carefully secured the evidence inside a clear plastic bag.

"Ma'am, please stand up," the officer said, turning toward Evelyn's chair.

Evelyn looked up with tears running down her wrinkled, pale cheeks.

"This is a massive family mistake, officer," Evelyn begged while standing up.

"I was only trying to help my son protect his family!"

"You have the right to remain silent," the officer said calmly but firmly.

They placed metal handcuffs around Evelyn's wrists behind her back.

Sarah watched from the doorway as they led Evelyn out to the patrol car.

The neighbors stood on their front porches, watching the scene unfold.

Evelyn hung her head down low in total disgrace as she was guided inside.

Mark stood next to Sarah and placed a loving arm around her waist.

"I am so deeply sorry I did not see her true nature sooner," Mark said.

"All that matters now is that our children are safe," Sarah replied softly.
