The Secrets In The Safe

Hannah: Don't let him threaten you, Tyler. He doesn't own everything he claims to own.

Arthur turned his head toward Hannah, his brow furrowing in irritation.

Arthur: Keep your mouth shut, maid! You signed a non-disclosure agreement with a two-million-dollar penalty clause!

Hannah: That agreement was voided three weeks ago, Mr. Vance. Because you committed insurance fraud when you paid off the Galveston hospital.

Sabrina: What are you talking about?!

Hannah: Before my mother passed away, she gave me a thumb drive containing audio recordings of Mr. Vance offering the chief doctor fifty thousand dollars to alter Tyler's visitor logs and hide my medical records.

Arthur's face turned completely red, his jaw clenching as he took an aggressive step toward Hannah.

Arthur: Hand over that thumb drive right now, Hannah! You stole private corporate property!

Tyler: Back off, Arthur! Step away from her right now!

Arthur: Security, grab that woman's bag! Search her uniform!

The two security guards took a step forward, but before they could reach Hannah, the sound of heavy dress shoes echoed from the upper balcony.

Down the grand marble stairs came Detective Miller of the Dallas Police Department, holding a folder of arrest warrants.

Detective Miller: Nobody touch anyone in this hall! Dallas Police!

Sabrina gasped, stepping back against the white wall as four uniformed police officers followed the detective down the stairs.

Arthur: Detective Miller? What is the meaning of this intrusion?! I am a major donor to the police foundation!

Detective Miller: Arthur Vance, we received a copy of those hospital audio files two hours ago from the District Attorney's office.

Detective Miller: We also have security footage from ten minutes ago showing your daughter assault an employee with a weapon.

Sabrina: Dad! Do something! Tell them who we are!

Detective Miller: Your name doesn't shield you from felony assault and obstruction of justice, Miss Vance.

Detective Miller: Officers, place Sabrina Vance under arrest for assault with a deadly weapon.

Two female police officers stepped forward, pulling Sabrina's arms behind her back and snapping cold metal handcuffs onto her wrists over her lace sleeves.

She shrieked in rage, her blonde hair falling wildly across her face as she kicked her feet against the marble floor.

Sabrina: Dad! Call our lawyers! Call the Mayor! Don't let them take me in front of the press!

Arthur: Officer, this is a private family matter! We can settle this financially with the maid!

Detective Miller: Arthur Vance, you are also under arrest for witness intimidation, bribery, and corporate fraud. Turn around and put your hands behind your back.

Arthur: You can't arrest me! I own half the logistics hubs in this state!

Detective Miller: You can explain that to the judge downtown, sir. Hands behind your back now!

The officers seized Arthur's arms, locking handcuffs tightly around his wrists.

His expensive suit jacket crumpled as he was turned toward the grand exit doors.

Arthur: Tyler! You idiot! You're destroying your entire career for a servant and a bastard child!

Tyler stepped forward, holding little Lily securely against his shoulder while looking Arthur straight in the eye with cold authority.

Tyler: Her name is Lily. She is my daughter, my real legacy, and the true heir to everything I own. Take them out of my sight.

Sabrina screamed and cried as the officers dragged her and her father out through the double front doors into the bright Texas daylight, where news vans and police cruisers were already waiting with flashing red and blue lights.

The grand hall finally fell silent.

The sunlight filtered softly through the high windows, illuminating the marble floor and the framed American flag hanging on the back wall.

Tyler turned back to Hannah, kneeling beside her on the floor once again.

He carefully examined the deep bruise on her left shoulder, his hands trembling with soft concern.

Tyler: Hannah... I am so sorry... I'm so sorry I wasn't there for six years to protect you from them.

Hannah: You were robbed of your memory, Tyler. It wasn't your fault. You came to our defense the second you saw us in trouble.

Tyler: We need to get you to a doctor right away to take care of that shoulder. Mark! Get my SUV brought around to the front entrance immediately!

Mark: Right away, Mr. Vance!

Lily reached down with her small hand, touching Tyler's cheek softly as she wiped away a tear from his eye.

Lily: Are you really my daddy?

Tyler: Yes, sweetie. I am your daddy. And I am never, ever going to let anyone hurt you or your mommy ever again.

Lily smiled brightly, wrapping her small arms around his neck as Tyler stood up, holding both his daughter and Hannah close as they walked toward the exit, ready to rebuild the family they had lost so long ago.
