The Evil Behind the Silk

The Maid Who Saved the Billionaire's Only Heir From the Balcony

Arthur: Get down here right now, Victoria!

Victoria: Arthur, please, listen to me! The child was playing too close to the rail!

Clara: That is a lie, sir! She deliberately pushed her over!

Lily: Daddy! She was mean to me! She dropped me!

Arthur stormed up the first few marble steps, his hands tightly clenched into knuckles of absolute fury.

Arthur: You monster! She is four years old!

Victoria: She was going to ruin everything, Arthur! Your estate, your trust fund, your attention! It was always about her!

Arthur: You married me for my money, and now you attack my flesh and blood?!

Victoria: You promised me a life of luxury! Not playing stepmother to a spoiled brat!

Victoria tried to turn toward her bedroom suite, but Arthur moved with terrifying speed, meeting her right at the landing of the balcony.

He grabbed her arm firmly, spinning her back to face him as her silk gown caught on the iron balustrade.

Arthur: How could you be so cruel?! Answer me!

Victoria: Let go of my arm! You're hurting me!

Arthur: You tried to murder my daughter under my own roof!

Arthur delivered a swift, resounding slap across her cheek that echoed off the high mansion walls like a gunshot.

Victoria: Ah! Arthur, stop!

Arthur: That is for touching my child!

Without pausing, he delivered a second sharp slap, knocking Victoria back against the cold stone pillar behind her.

Victoria: Stop! No, please! I'll leave! I'll sign the divorce papers!

Arthur: You won't just sign papers! You're going to prison!

A third heavy strike cracked through the hall, sending Victoria slumping down onto the polished floor, clutching her reddening face in terror.

Victoria: Please, Arthur... I was desperate... the prenup... I was going to get nothing if you found out...

Arthur: Found out about what? What are you talking about?!

Down in the foyer, Clara slowly rocked little Lily back and forth, wiping the child's tears while keeping a protective arm around her.

Clara: Don't look up there, sweetie. Keep your eyes on me.

Lily: Is daddy mad at you, Clara?

Clara: No, honey. Daddy is protecting us.

Arthur: Speak, Victoria! What prenup secret were you trying to hide by killing my child?!

Victoria: The foundation money... the offshore accounts... I took from them!

Arthur: You stole from the family trust?!

Victoria: I needed the money to pay off my debts before we got married!

Arthur: You traded my daughter's life for your own greed!

Arthur reached down, grabbing the collar of her brown gown, dragging her back toward the balcony rail so she could look down at the foyer.

Arthur: Look at them down there! Look at the woman who actually cares for this family!

Victoria: She's just a peasant maid! She doesn't belong here!

Arthur: She has more dignity in her pinky finger than you have in your entire body!

Victoria: Arthur, please... don't call the police. Think of our reputation, the family name, the newspapers!

Arthur: The only thing I care about is justice for my child.

Arthur pulled out his encrypted phone from his suit jacket, dialing his private security team and the local police department.

Arthur: Marcus? Bring the team inside immediately. We have an attempted murder on the premises.

Victoria: No! Arthur, don't do this to me!

Arthur: Shut your mouth before I lose my temper again.

He turned away from her sobbing form on the landing and walked slowly back down the grand staircase toward the two sitting on the floor.

Arthur: Clara... are you alright? Is Lily hurt?

Clara: She's safe, Mr. Sterling. My arm took the impact, but she doesn't have a single scratch.

Arthur: You saved her life today. I can never repay you for this.

Clara: I couldn't just stand there and watch her fall, sir.

Arthur: You didn't just save her. You exposed the snake living in my home.
