A New Beginning of Belonging

The Maid Stood Crying Until Her Secret Brother Arrived

Victoria tried to step forward to beg David for another chance.

Her expensive shoes made sticky popping sounds on the wet stone.

David raised his hand firmly to stop her in her tracks.

He motioned for the estate security guards to step up instantly.

Two large guards in black uniforms walked out from the doors.

They took Victoria gently but firmly by her red-stained arms.

David: Escort her off my property immediately without delay tonight.

Victoria: You cannot do this to me, David! I made you!

David: You made yourself a bitter, cruel woman, Victoria. Goodbye.

Victoria: Clara, tell him to stop! You know me!

Clara: I know you all too well, Victoria. Please leave.

The security guards escorted the screaming stepmother out the gates.

Her loud angry shouts faded away down the long dark driveway.

The remaining party guests quickly apologized and left the patio quietly.

Within ten minutes, the grand luxury estate was totally quiet again.

David turned around and looked at his long-lost younger sister.

He gently reached out and untied her stained work apron strap.

He let the heavy cloth drop to the stone floor below.

He took her rough, tired hands into his own warm palms.

David: You will never have to serve anyone ever again, Clara.

Clara: I still cannot believe you found me in this big house.

David: Fate brought you home to me when you needed protection.

Clara: Thank you for standing up for me when I couldn't.

David: That is what real family is supposed to do always.

David: Half of this entire estate belongs to you now, sister.

Clara let out a long breath of pure relief and happiness.

The heavy weight on her chest finally disappeared into the night.

She looked up at the American flag flying high over patio.

It represented freedom and justice that she had finally gained tonight.

David wrapped his arm around her shoulder and walked her inside.

They left the wet, messy patio behind for a bright future.

Clara knew her life of suffering was officially over forever now.

She had her brother, her real home, and her rightful dignity back.
