Richard dropped his heavy leather briefcase right onto the shiny floor.
He ran fast across the room and knelt down beside Elena.
His hands trembled as he touched his small son's soft face.
Richard: What happened here, Elena?
Elena: She let go of him!
Richard: What are you talking about right now?
Elena: Victoria held him right over the high balcony edge!
Richard: That cannot be true at all!
Victoria: Is this true?
Victoria stood at the top of the stairs with steady posture.
She looked calm, elegant, and completely untroubled by the scene below.
Victoria: She is lying, Richard!
Elena: I am telling the absolute truth, Mr. Sterling!
Victoria: That crazy maid slipped and dropped the baby herself!
Victoria: She is trying to blame me to save her job!
Richard looked back and forth between the two crying adults now.
His mind was spinning from the heavy emotional shock of it.
He had trusted Victoria to help build a bright new family.
Yet Elena had always been loyal, honest, and very hard-working.
Richard: Why would Elena make up such a horrible story?
Victoria: Because she wants money from us, you silly man!
Elena: I do not care about your money at all, ma'am!
Elena: I only care about protecting this helpless little child!
Richard stood up slowly with a very stern look on his face.
He saw the clear panic lingering deep inside Elena's wide eyes.
