The loud crash of shattering glass echoed through the empty ground floor.
Victoria immediately began screaming at the top of her lungs for help.
Victoria: Help! The nanny dropped the heavy antique vase near the stairs!
Elena stood stunned on the upper floor balcony watching the crazy display.
Victoria quickly pulled her own neat hair loose to look completely frantic.
She tore the delicate collar of her mustard yellow dress on purpose.
Elena: What are you doing? Nobody was anywhere near that heavy vase!
Victoria: Shut your mouth! You are about to be ruined forever, maid!
Just then, the grand front double doors opened with a loud thud.
Arthur had forgotten his important travel documents and returned home early today.
He walked into the bright marble foyer and saw the shattered glass.
Arthur: What on earth is happening in my home right now?
Victoria immediately leaned over the high balcony rail looking down with tears.
Victoria: Oops! Bye-bye, little one! She tried to push Clara over!
Arthur gasped in utter horror and dropped his heavy leather briefcase instantly.
He looked up and saw Clara standing near the open hallway door.
Elena ran franticly across the floor to grab Clara and pull her back.
She cradled the small blonde toddler safely and tightly in her arms.
Elena: I have you safe, Clara! Do not be afraid, my dear!
Elena dropped to her knees, holding the crying child close to her.
Arthur ran up the grand staircase like a wild man out of control.
His face was red with intense anger and overwhelming fear for Clara.
Victoria rushed down the grand steps, pointing aggressively back at Elena.
Victoria: She slipped from my hands! Take her away from this house!
Elena: Sir, she lied to you! She threw the vase herself!
Arthur: Give me my daughter right now, Elena!
Elena: Sir, she threw it on purpose! Don't let her touch her!
Arthur took the crying toddler gently into his strong protective arms.
He looked into Clara's tear-filled eyes and felt his chest tighten up.
Clara: Daddy! The yellow lady screamed and broke the big pretty glass!
Arthur froze in complete shock as he listened to his daughter's words.
He slowly turned his head to glare furiously past the maid's shoulder.
Arthur: What did you just say, Clara?
Clara: The yellow lady broke it, Daddy! Nanny saved me from her!
Victoria's face turned completely pale as her cruel plan crumbled instantly.
