The Forgotten Maternity Ward

David: Biological mother? What on earth are you talking about, Clara?! My son's biological mother was a surrogate arranged through Victoria's agency!

Victoria: Exactly! David, don't listen to a single word coming out of this woman's mouth! She's mentally unstable!

Clara: Ask her about Saint Jude's Charity Hospital, Mr. Sterling. Ask her about Room 402 on the night of August 14th.

David: Victoria... is Saint Jude's Hospital where you sourced the surrogacy agreement three years ago?

Victoria: I don't remember the name of every medical facility our agency contracted with, David! We handled hundreds of legal documents for your family estate!

Clara: You remember it very well, Miss Victoria. You walked into my recovery room two hours after I gave birth, holding a legal non-disclosure agreement and a check for fifty thousand dollars.

Victoria: You signed a legal waiver! You signed away every single parental right you had to that child!

David: Victoria! You swore to me three years ago that Leo's birth mother was an anonymous donor who signed all adoption papers willingly through a certified family court!

Clara: She didn't tell you the truth, Mr. Sterling. I never wanted to sign those papers. I was nineteen years old, penniless, and my father was dying in the intensive care unit next door.

David: What did she say to you in that room, Clara? Tell me everything.

Clara: She brought two private security guards into my room while I was holding my newborn son wrapped in this exact blanket. She told me if I didn't sign the transfer of custody papers right then, she would have my father's life support turned off for non-payment.

A heavy, suffocating silence fell over the grand ballroom as guests began backing away from Victoria Vance.

David stood up slowly, his tall frame looming over his fiancée with cold, ruthless fury.

David: Is this true, Victoria? Did you blackmail a nineteen-year-old mother in a charity hospital to deliver a child to me?

Victoria: David, you wanted an heir! Your late father's will strictly stated that you had to produce a legitimate male heir before your thirty-fifth birthday or lose control of Sterling Enterprises!

David: That gave you the right to torture a helpless girl and steal her infant son?!

Victoria: I saved your inheritance! I saved your family legacy! I paid her family's medical bills and gave you the son you needed to secure the corporate board seats!

Clara: You didn't pay my father's medical bills, Miss Victoria. The check you gave me bounced forty-eight hours after I signed those papers. My father passed away three days later because his treatment was canceled.

Leo: Mommy Clara... don't cry. Don't let the mean lady yell at you.

The three-year-old boy reached up with his tiny hand, wiping a tear from Clara's cheek with the same white blanket she had used on him moments earlier.

David looked down at his crying son, then at the heartbroken maid kneeling on the floor, and finally at his elegant, cold-hearted fiancée.

David: Arthur! Where is my personal attorney?!

An elderly man in a sharp grey suit stepped forward from the front row of guests, holding a leather document portfolio.

Arthur: I am right here, Mr. Sterling.

David: Cancel our engagement announcement immediately. Secure all estate doors, call the state police, and bring a certified DNA testing kit to my private office right now.
