Three weeks later, the morning sun shone brightly through the clean mansion windows.
The burgundy maid uniform was gone, replaced by a simple white summer dress on Clara.
Mark sat beside her on the outdoor patio overlooking the large swimming pool grounds.
Nico slept soundly in a small wooden crib resting under a large white umbrella.
David walked out onto the patio carrying a light blue folder full of completed forms.
David: The court has officially corrected Nico's legal birth certificate as of this morning.
Clara took the official document into her hands and read her name on it.
Tears of joy welled up in her eyes as she touched the official gold seal.
Clara: He is legally mine again... no one can ever question my right as his mother.
Mark reached over and wrapped his warm arm around Clara's soft shoulders tenderly.
Mark: He was always yours, Clara. The legal papers just caught up to the truth.
David smiled and put his pen back into his inside suit jacket pocket carefully.
David: Eleanor has agreed to a full plea deal to avoid a lengthy public trial.
She had surrendered every claim to the Verucci trust fund and the family business assets.
The stolen money was being returned to a private trust set up for Nico's future.
Mark: Thank you for everything you did for our family, David.
The lawyer nodded politely and walked back inside toward the estate entrance gate.
Mark turned to Clara and looked deep into her bright brown eyes with true love.
He pulled a small velvet box from his pocket and placed it on the glass table.
Mark: I lost you once to a terrible storm and a terrible lie, Clara.
He opened the box to reveal her original diamond engagement ring resting inside safely.
Mark: Will you complete our family and marry me properly this time around?
Clara covered her mouth with both hands as a happy laugh escaped her lips.
Clara: Yes, Mark! A thousand times yes!
Nico stirred softly in his crib and made a happy little cooing sound nearby.
Mark leaned in and kissed Clara gently under the warm American sunshine on the patio.
The painful months of searching and crying were finally over for the whole family.
