Mark: Elena, sit down, please. You must be in total shock after everything that just happened.
Elena: I’m just glad I walked into the foyer when I did, Mr. Vance[cite: 1]. If I hadn't moved that painting to dust the frame, I might have never heard his muffled crying[cite: 1].
Mark: I owe you everything. A simple thank you will never be enough for saving my son’s life.
Ethan: Maid Elena saved me, Daddy! She pulled the big metal grill right off[cite: 1]!
Mark: She sure did, buddy. She's a hero.
Mark sat on the velvet sofa next to his son, holding a warm towel against Ethan’s dusty forehead[cite: 1]. But as he looked around the room, he noticed a thick manila folder sticking out from beneath the sofa cushions where Isabella had been sitting earlier[cite: 1].
Mark: What is this?
Elena: What did you find, Mr. Vance?
Mark: It’s legal paperwork... from my late wife’s life insurance trust fund.
Mark pulled the document out and flipped through the heavy pages, his face turning paler with every line he read. His hands began to shake as he realized the horrific truth behind Isabella’s actions.
Mark: Look at this clause right here, Elena.
Elena: I don't understand legal terms very well, sir. What does it say?
Mark: My first wife left a five-million-dollar inheritance exclusively for Ethan. But there was a condition set by her estate lawyer.
Elena: What condition?
Mark: If Ethan was declared mentally unfit or declared missing for more than ninety days, full management of the trust fund would transfer directly to his legal stepmother... to Isabella.
Elena: Dear God... she wasn't just abusing him. She was trying to make people think he ran away!
Mark: She was hiding him in the wall so she could claim he went missing! She wanted the five million dollars!
Ethan: She said if I stayed real quiet, she would give me my toys back.
Mark: She was planning on keeping him hidden until the ninety-day mark hit! She was going to steal my boy's entire future!
Elena: That woman is far worse than a cruel stepmother. She’s a cold-blooded criminal.
Mark: I was so blind, Elena. I was so caught up in running my business that I trusted her completely with my son.
Elena: Don't blame yourself, Mr. Vance. Evil people know how to hide their true faces. The important thing is that Ethan is safe now.
Mark: Safe... yes. But things are going to change around here starting today.
