Sarah took Leo straight into the warm, safe environment of the kitchen.
She poured him a tall glass of milk and sat down beside him.
Maid Sarah: Did she touch you anywhere else, my dear boy?
Leo: No, but she whispered scary things to me yesterday too.
Maid Sarah: What kind of things did she whisper to you?
Leo: She said I would go away real soon and never return.
Sarah felt a terrible chill run down her curved spine.
She had worked for the Whiteman family for over fifteen whole years.
She remembered when Leo was born in that very same master bedroom upstairs.
She promised his late mother that she would always guard his young life.
Maid Sarah: You stay right here with Cook, okay, Leo?
Leo: Where are you going, Sarah?
Maid Sarah: I am going to make sure she never hurts you again.
Sarah walked with quick, determined steps toward the central security control room.
The mansion had high definition cameras installed in almost every public hallway.
Evelyn did not know about the hidden lenses set near the grand staircase.
Sarah unlocked the heavy steel door using her private master keycard.
She sat in front of the glowing monitors and rewound the morning footage.
There it was, captured clearly on the sharp digital video screen.
Evelyn was clearly reaching out to shove the young boy down forty steep steps.
Sarah felt tears of pure anger spring into her tired eyes.
Maid Sarah: You evil woman, your wicked game ends right today.
She inserted a small silver flash drive into the recording console.
She backed up the full video footage to keep it safe from deletion.
Suddenly, the security office door burst open with a loud, heavy bang.
Evelyn stepped into the small room with a dangerous look in her eyes.
Evelyn: Hand over that memory drive right now, Sarah!
Maid Sarah: I will never give this evidence to a villain like you!
Evelyn: If you step out that door, you will be fired instantly!
Maid Sarah: Fire me if you want, but justice is coming for you!
Sarah clutched the silver drive tightly inside her right fist.
She pushed past Evelyn into the main hallway without looking back once.
