Arthur picked up the small silver tool directly from Elena's palm.
He examined the fine engraved initials carved into the sleek handle.
The letters VS were clearly visible under the bright entryway lights.
Arthur: Why is your personal monogrammed tool sitting on the floor?
Arthur asked the quiet question with terrifying calm emotional discipline.
Victoria backed away two full steps toward the marble staircase rail.
Victoria: I... I must have dropped that yesterday while cleaning!
Elena: You never clean the upstairs railings yourself, Mrs. Sterling.
Elena spoke the simple truth with steady calm clarity of tone.
Elena: I clean those bars every single morning at seven o'clock.
Arthur turned his stern gaze back to his nervous young wife.
He walked slowly toward the center table where his briefcase rested.
He unzipped the side pocket and pulled out a manila folder.
Arthur: My corporate lawyers called me thirty minutes ago, Victoria.
Victoria froze entirely in place as she saw the official papers.
Arthur: They noticed massive unauthorized transfers from our joint account.
He laid the legal bank documents directly onto the polished table.
Arthur: Millions of dollars shifted to an offshore company yesterday afternoon.
Victoria's hands began shaking uncontrollably at her sides now.
She realized her elaborate financial cover scheme was unraveling fast.
Victoria: Arthur, I can explain everything if you just listen!
Arthur: Were you trying to fake a robbery to claim insurance?
Arthur raised his voice as the painful reality clicked inside.
Arthur: You wanted to sell the real diamond on the black market!
Victoria stopped pretending to cry and straightened her posture cold.
Her soft facade disappeared entirely from her sharp bitter face.
Victoria: You kept me trapped in this absurd marriage for years!
She spat the cruel words out without any hesitation or remorse.
Victoria: You gave all the business shares to your family trust!
Victoria: I deserved my fair share of the Sterling wealth now!
Arthur looked at her with profound disappointment in his dark eyes.
Arthur: You had everything you could ever possibly ask for here.
He turned his back on her and pointed toward the door.
