Elena stood up slowly while keeping Lily gently positioned behind her back.
Elena: Mr. Harrison, you are making a massive mistake right now!
Mark: I saw you on the floor holding her while she screamed!
Elena: I caught her when your wife pushed her off the upper balcony!
Victoria hurried down the winding staircase with tears streaming down her pale cheeks.
Victoria: She is lying to protect herself after endangering our little girl, darling!
Mark: Pack your personal belongings and leave my property immediately, Elena.
Lily held onto Elena's grey apron skirt with tears rolling down her face.
Lily: Daddy no, Elena saved me from falling down!
Mark: Lily, stay away from her right now and go to your room.
Mark grabbed Elena by the arm and escorted her toward the heavy front exit.
Elena knew that leaving now would leave Lily in extreme physical danger inside.
Elena: Look at the security cameras in the upper hallway, Mr. Harrison!
Mark paused for a brief second near the wide open double doors.
Victoria's face turned completely pale as soon as camera footage was mentioned aloud.
Victoria: Mark, those old security cameras have not worked for several months.
Elena: You had new HD cameras installed last Tuesday by the local security firm.
Mark looked closely at Victoria's nervous reaction near the stair railing.
He saw a slight flicker of panic pass across his new wife's eyes.
Mark: I did install updated cameras in every hallway last week, Victoria.
Victoria: I meant that I thought they were offline for routine maintenance today.
Elena pulled her phone out of her pocket with steady determination in her hand.
Elena: Check your mobile security app right now on your personal smartphone, sir.
Mark reached into his suit jacket and pulled out his private mobile device.
He tapped the screen rapidly to pull up the live upper hallway feed.
Victoria stepped back slowly toward the back corridor leading to the library.
Mark: Victoria, stay right where you are while I check this video clip.
The room became completely quiet except for Lily's soft muffled crying sounds.
Mark swiped backward to review the recording from five minutes earlier today.
His face transformed from deep anger to complete horrifying shock within seconds.
The high-definition video clearly showed Victoria holding the bear over the edge.
It showed her giving Lily a deliberate push toward the slippery top staircase ledge.
It showed Elena rushing across the floor to catch the falling little girl.
Mark dropped his leather briefcase onto the floor as tears welled in his eyes.
Mark: My God, what have you done, Victoria?
