The Roses That Ended the Wedding

The magnificent Crystal Crown Ballroom in Nashville, Tennessee, sparkled beneath towering crystal chandeliers. White roses decorated every aisle, and hundreds of guests smiled as they waited for the wedding ceremony of Ethan Walker and his fiancée, Vanessa Brooks, to begin.

Soft violin music floated through the elegant hall.

Everything seemed perfect.

Near the entrance stood an elderly woman dressed in a simple black lace dress.

Her hands trembled as she held a bouquet of fresh red roses.

Her name was Margaret Walker.

She was Ethan's mother.

For years, Margaret had worked two jobs to raise Ethan after losing her husband in a construction accident. She had sacrificed everything to give her son a better future.

Although she couldn't afford an expensive wedding gift, she had carefully grown the roses herself in the small garden behind her house.

They meant everything to her.

With tears in her eyes, Margaret slowly approached Vanessa.

She smiled gently.

"These roses..."

"...are for you."

Before the bouquet could be accepted, Vanessa's expression hardened.

She stepped backward in disgust.

"Don't you dare touch me!"

The ballroom fell completely silent.

Several guests lowered their heads in disbelief.

The roses slipped from Margaret's trembling hands.
