The Cup On The Table

The Little Girl Who Saved Her Father From Evil Intentions

Mark adjusted his dark navy suit jacket while standing in the brightly lit marble foyer of his Dallas mansion.

He looked at his beautiful fiancé Victoria, who was adjusting her designer beige suit in the tall wall mirror.

They were preparing for their upcoming wedding rehearsal dinner with local business partners and close family members.

Mark felt lucky to have found love again after losing his first wife three short years ago.

Victoria smiled warmly at him as she picked up a silver tray carrying a warm mug of tea.

She walked toward the private home office where Mark usually spent his late afternoons reviewing legal estate documents.

Seven-year-old Lily ran into the high-ceiling hallway wearing her bright yellow pajama set with tiny white stars.

Her small feet made soft pattering sounds against the polished white marble floor as she skidded to a stop.

Lily stopped dead in her tracks when she saw the silver mug sitting on the dark wooden desk.

Her pale blue eyes widened with pure terror as she pointed a trembling finger directly at the glass cup.

Lily: Daddy, don't drink it! It is poisoned!

Mark dropped his leather briefcase onto the pristine floor in absolute shock at his daughter's sudden screaming outburst.

Victoria turned around instantly, her face turning pale before quickly twisting into a mask of pure fury.

Victoria: Shut your mouth right now, you spoiled brat!

Victoria stepped forward aggressively, shoving the little girl hard against the entry wall to stop her from talking.

Lily stumbled backward onto the white marble floor, tears bursting from her eyes as her elbow hit the tile.

Mark gasped in horror and dropped to his knees immediately to shield his small weeping child from harm.

Mark: Are you out of your mind touching my daughter like that?!

Mark lifted Lily safely into his strong arms, glaring up at Victoria with burning anger in his eyes.

Lily: She put the poison in his cup!

Lily buried her face into her father's shoulder while keeping her tiny arm raised toward the terrified woman.

Victoria backed away toward the open hallway arches, waving her manicured hands in absolute panic and confusion.

Victoria: No, no! She is lying to frame me because she hates me!

Mark stood up to his full height, his heart pounding wildly inside his chest as dark suspicion took root.
