Morning light broke through the high windows, illuminating the vast estate foyer below.
Two police officers stood inside near the grand flag alongside a family lawyer.
Arthur sat in a comfortable armchair, looking much stronger after a full night's rest.
Victoria stood near the marble columns, her arms crossed and her face bright red.
"Officer, this maid and child stole private legal documents from my desk!" Victoria shouted.
The tall officer turned to the family lawyer, who held the blue folder firmly.
"Is this true, Mr. Vance?" the police officer asked Arthur directly and calmly.
Arthur looked at Victoria with a firm, strong glare that she had never seen before.
"No, officer, my late wife created this trust for our daughter ten years ago," Arthur stated.
"My wife Victoria was attempting to alter the documents fraudulently," Arthur added bravely.
The lawyer pulled out a certified copy of the original trust with a gold seal.
"Mrs. Vance has zero legal authority over this estate or Mr. Vance's medical care," he said.
Victoria took a slow step back toward the front door, looking completely defeated.
"You cannot do this to me after everything I did for this family!" she yelled.
"You tried to withhold my father's medicine!" Lily stepped forward and said clearly.
Elena stepped up beside Lily and pulled out a small black audio recorder from her pocket.
"I recorded Mrs. Vance admitting she locked the medicine cabinet on purpose," Elena revealed.
The police officer nodded sternly and walked over toward Victoria near the entrance.
"Ma'am, you need to come with us for questioning regarding endangerment," the officer said.
Victoria gasped in total shock as she was escorted out through the grand double doors.
The front door shut firmly, leaving the room quiet, peaceful, and totally calm at last.
Arthur reached out his arms, and Lily ran straight into a warm, safe hug.
"You saved my life twice, my brave little girl," Arthur whispered while holding her tightly.
Elena smiled warmly through happy tears as she picked up her laundry basket once more.
The family was finally safe from the dark lies that had threatened their quiet home.
