Thirty minutes passed quickly as everyone waited inside the grand hall.
The front door opened and Arthur walked in holding a briefcase.
The lawyer adjusted his glasses and looked around at the scene.
He saw the broken ceramic shards and shattered cabinet glass nearby.
Arthur walked straight over to David and offered his right hand.
Arthur: Let me inspect the paper you found in the vase.
David handed the original yellow paper over to the trusted lawyer.
Arthur examined the official signatures and the raised notary seal closely.
He nodded his head slowly as he read through every clause.
Arthur: This document is fully valid and legally binding, David.
Evelyn: That is impossible, the statute of limitations has passed!
Arthur: Fraud cancels any timeline when evidence was hidden deliberately.
Richard sat down on a nearby chair holding his face in hands.
He knew that their legal defense was completely useless at this point.
Arthur: David is the rightful owner of this estate and company.
A collective murmur ran through the gathered crowd of family friends.
David looked around the grand hall with a quiet sense of relief.
He did not feel anger anymore, only deep peace in his chest.
David: Evelyn and Richard must leave this property by tomorrow morning.
Evelyn: You cannot throw your own family out onto the street!
David: I am providing you a small apartment, nothing more today.
Richard: We spent ten years maintaining this entire house for you.
David: You spent ten years spending money that belonged to others.
David turned his full attention back toward little Lily on chair.
He took her small hand and guided her toward the front garden.
They stepped outside into the fresh air away from broken glass.
The afternoon sun felt warm and comforting on their tired skin.
Lily: Will we live in this big house now, Uncle David?
David: Yes, we will turn it into a real loving home.
Lily: A home where no one hides secrets inside old vases?
David: Exactly, a home filled with truth and clear open light.
Lily laughed happily as she ran toward the green grass lawn.
David stood on the porch watching her play freely in sun.
The long battle for his mother's legacy was finally over now.
Truth had triumphed over greed in the most unexpected way possible.
