The Woman They Tried to Throw Out of the Mansion

The Hawthorne Estate was glowing with golden lights as the city's wealthiest families gathered for the engagement celebration of Daniel Hawthorne and socialite Victoria Sterling. Crystal chandeliers sparkled above the grand marble foyer while guests watched from the sweeping balcony overlooking the entrance hall.

Standing near the centre of the foyer was Evelyn Carter, dressed in an elegant gold silk gown. Only a year earlier, she had been introduced as Daniel's fiancée and future partner in the Hawthorne business empire. Tonight, however, she was being treated like a stranger.

Victoria stood beside Daniel with a victorious smile, while whispers spread through the crowd about rumours that Evelyn had been removed from the family company.

The tension finally exploded when Daniel stepped forward and shoved Evelyn hard across the marble floor. The impact echoed through the mansion, and several guests gasped in shock.

Evelyn stumbled, her black quilted purse falling from her hand. When she touched her face, a thin line of blood stained her fingers where her cheek had struck the edge of a marble table.

At the top of the staircase, Daniel's mother, Margaret Hawthorne, descended slowly carrying an open jewellery box. Inside was the Hawthorne family engagement ring, a priceless heirloom passed down for generations.

She stopped in front of Evelyn and spoke with icy authority.

"Give it back. You were never part of this family."

The room fell silent. Everyone expected Evelyn to cry, apologise, or beg for another chance.

Instead, she calmly picked up her purse and stood to her full height. Despite the blood on her cheek, her expression became strangely composed.

She looked directly at Margaret, then at Daniel and Victoria.

"Keep the ring," she said quietly. "You should have read what you signed."

Daniel's confident expression vanished instantly. Victoria's smile disappeared as she exchanged a nervous glance with him.

Without another word, Evelyn turned and walked through the foyer. The sharp clicking of her heels echoed against the marble as guests stepped aside in stunned silence.

Outside the mansion, a black SUV was already waiting. The chauffeur opened the door, but before getting in, Evelyn took out her phone and made a single call.

Her voice was calm, cold, and unmistakably in control.

"Begin the transfer. Freeze everything."

Inside the mansion, Daniel suddenly understood what she meant.
