The Maid the Twins Called Mommy

The Hawthorne Estate was alive with music as hundreds of guests attended a lavish charity gala.

Crystal chandeliers glowed above the magnificent ballroom while servants quietly moved through the crowd.

Among them was twenty-eight-year-old Grace, a maid who had only started working at the mansion two weeks earlier.

She kept to herself and avoided unnecessary attention.

While carrying fresh towels to the family lounge, she heard soft crying.

Curious, she stepped inside.

Two young twin boys sat on the floor, hugging each other with tears streaming down their faces.

Their nanny had stepped away for only a moment after the boys became overwhelmed by the noisy celebration.

Grace knelt beside them.

"What's wrong?"

The twins looked up at her.

Without hesitation, both boys wrapped their tiny arms around her.

They cried harder.

Grace gently held them close and softly began singing an old lullaby her late mother had sung throughout her childhood.

Almost immediately, the boys stopped shaking.

They quietly rested against her shoulder.

Just then, the grand doors burst open.

Andrew Whitmore, the boys' father, stormed inside.

His wife, Victoria, hurried after him.

Andrew stared at the unexpected scene.

His sons were clinging tightly to a maid they had never met.

His voice echoed through the room.

"Why are my sons calling you Mommy?"

The guests nearby turned to watch.

Victoria stepped forward nervously.

"Andrew, please..."

"She's only a maid."

But before Grace could explain herself, one of the twins looked directly at his father.

"No."

"She's more like Mommy."

"She sings us the same song."

The room fell completely silent.

Grace's eyes filled with tears.

She whispered,

"I shouldn't have come inside."

Andrew suddenly froze.

His expression changed from anger to complete shock.

That lullaby...

Only one other person had ever known it.
