The Grand Magnolia Ballroom in Charleston, South Carolina, glittered beneath crystal chandeliers as the city's most influential business leaders gathered for the annual Harper Foundation Charity Gala. Waiters carried silver trays filled with champagne, a string quartet played elegant music near the stage, and photographers captured every glamorous arrival.
Among the distinguished guests sat eighty-one-year-old Eleanor Hayes.
Wrapped in a pale blue evening gown, Eleanor remained quietly seated in her wheelchair near the front of the ballroom. Arthritis had limited her mobility, but it had never diminished her warm smile or gentle spirit.
Most guests politely greeted her before returning to their conversations.
Only one person seemed irritated by her presence.
Vanessa Brooks, a well-known socialite wearing an expensive burgundy sequined gown, grew increasingly impatient as Eleanor's wheelchair partially blocked her path toward the VIP seating area.

"Move."
