The grand hallway of the Ashcroft Mansion buzzed with excitement as guests waited for the wedding ceremony to begin. Crystal chandeliers shimmered overhead, fresh white roses lined the marble walls, and photographers rushed from one room to another capturing every elegant moment.
Everything seemed perfect.
Until a scream echoed through the hallway.
"You little thief! This belongs to me!"
Every conversation stopped.
Guests turned just in time to see the bride, Olivia Harper, storm toward a frightened young girl wearing a simple tan dress.
Before anyone could react, Olivia slapped the child across the face.
The sharp sound echoed through the mansion.
The little girl stumbled backward, tears instantly filling her eyes.
A man in a black suit stepped forward in shock, but he froze when Olivia angrily grabbed the gold locket hanging around the girl's neck.
"Give it back!" the child cried.
Olivia ignored her.
She ripped the chain away with enough force to break it, leaving red marks across the girl's neck.
"You're too young to understand what this is," Olivia snapped. "This belongs to my family."
The frightened child continued crying as guests whispered among themselves.
Some believed the bride.
Others couldn't understand why a grown woman would publicly humiliate a child on her wedding day.
Olivia clutched the antique locket tightly in her hand.
It looked incredibly old.
Its golden surface was covered in delicate engravings that had clearly survived generations.
She stared at it silently.
Then, with trembling fingers, she slowly opened it.
The tiny metal clasp clicked.
Inside was a faded black-and-white portrait of a young woman.
The moment Olivia saw the photograph...
Everything changed.
