Daniel: You threw a bucket of water on a seventy-year-old woman and slapped her across the face in her own home?!
Chloe: I didn't mean to slap her hard! She talked back to me!
Daniel: She built this entire company from nothing while your father was still trying to pay off his first bankruptcy!
Chloe: Daniel, please! We can fix this! I will apologize! I'll buy her a new coat!
Margaret: I don't need your apology, Chloe. Nor do I need your money.
Margaret pulled a small black leather folder from her damp coat pocket, holding it out toward Daniel.
Margaret: While I was waiting in the study earlier, I took a look at the prenuptial agreement your fiancée drafted with her lawyers.
Chloe: You went through my private papers?!
Margaret: Those papers were lying open on my husband's antique desk, Chloe. The desk you had no right to open.
Daniel took the black folder from his mother, flipping open the first page. His eyes scanned the typewritten text, his face darkening with every line he read.
Daniel: What is this, Chloe? Why does this agreement give your family firm thirty percent of my corporate voting shares upon marriage?
Chloe: That... that was just a standard protection clause! My father's lawyers recommended it!
Margaret: Read clause nine, Daniel.
Daniel: Clause nine states that if I pass away or become incapacitated, full legal authority over the Sterling Trust transfers directly to Chloe Vance.
Daniel looked up from the paper, his hands trembling with absolute fury as he glared at Chloe.
Daniel: You were trying to steal my family's trust fund before we even stepped onto the altar!
Chloe: No! Daniel, you know I love you! I don't care about the money!
Margaret: If you didn't care about the money, Chloe, why did you transfer fifty thousand dollars from Daniel's personal account to a offshore bank yesterday morning?
Chloe froze. Her jaw dropped open, her eyes wide with sheer terror as she looked at Margaret.
Chloe: How... how do you know about that transfer?
Margaret: I am the chief executive officer of Sterling Global, my dear. Every transaction over ten thousand dollars requires a digital alert sent directly to my private phone.
Daniel: You stole fifty thousand dollars from my account?!
Chloe: It was for the wedding caterers! I was going to pay it back after the merger!
Margaret: The caterers were already paid in full last week by my office, Chloe. You sent that money to a private account in the Cayman Islands registered under your brother's name.
Daniel slammed the black folder shut, the loud thud echoing through the high-ceilinged foyer like a crack of thunder.
Daniel: You are a thief, Chloe. A greedy, abusive thief.
