The Emerald Scissors That Ruined Our Family Forever

The crystal chandeliers of the grand mansion atrium cast a cold, blinding light across the polished marble floors as the heavy oak doors remained tightly sealed against the outside world. Deep inside the private dressing room, the air grew thick with a suffocating tension that smelled faintly of expensive perfume and bitter resentment. Victoria stood before the mirrored vanity, her dark emerald green velvet gown catching the glare of the vanity lights while her fingers gripped a pair of heavy, oversized steel shears. Across from her, seven-year-old Lily clutched the pale pink chiffon dress her biological mother had left her before passing away, her small shoulders shaking with quiet, desperate terror. Scissors cutting fabric SFX echoed sharply through the quiet room, followed immediately by the heartbreaking sound of a child sniffling into her hands.

Victoria: Stop your sniffling right now, you little ungrateful brat. You look ridiculous in this cheap junk.

Lily: Please, Aunt Victoria... mommy made this for my birthday party. Don't cut it!

Victoria: Your mother had terrible taste, and as long as you live under my roof, you will wear what I buy you, not this trash.

Lily: It's all I have left of her! Please give the scissors back!

The cold gleam of the steel blades caught the light as Victoria adjusted her grip with absolute disdain, her expression twisted into a sneer of pure malice. She despised the lingering memory of her late sister-in-law, and every innocent reminder of the past only fueled her bitter desire to control the entire family estate. Lily's tiny fingers curled frantically around the fabric hem of the pink dress, trying desperately to pull herself out of reach of the looming threat. The heavy velvet of Victoria's gown rustled sharply against the antique rug as she stepped forward, completely deaf to the helpless weeping of the terrified child trapped before her.

Victoria: Tears won't save this hideous rag, Lily. I'm doing you a favor by getting rid of it.

Lily: Daddy is going to be home soon! He told you never to touch my things!

Victoria: Your father is too busy managing the corporate trust fund to care about a scrap of pink cloth. Now stay still!

Lily: No! Leave me alone! Help me!

The sharp snap of metal slicing through delicate material shattered the fragile silence of the dressing room as the oversized blades tore straight through the heart of the garment. Lily buried her face in her knees, her entire world collapsing around her as the final tangible piece of her mother's love was mutilated beyond repair. Victoria didn't flinch, her eyes fixed on the ruined fabric with a cruel sense of satisfaction that made her posture stiffen with rigid arrogance. She stepped back, letting the severed bow flutter uselessly to the floor like a fallen petal while the child wept uncontrollably into her trembling hands. Outside the double doors, heavy footsteps approached the foyer, completely unaware of the emotional devastation unfolding inside the master suite just moments before disaster struck.

Victoria: There. Now you can finally look like a proper member of the Vance family.

Lily: You're a monster... I hate you!

Victoria: Save your dramatic tantrums for someone who cares. Clean yourself up before your father gets back.

Lily: Daddy! Where are you? Please hurry up and come home!

Victoria: Keep shouting all you want. Nobody is going to save you from me.

Lily: He will! He promised he would protect me from people like you!
