Late the following afternoon, the heavy rains continued to pour down across the Dallas estate.
Victoria had dressed in a striking dark purple sequined gown for an evening charity gala event.
She walked down the long upstairs hallway, looking annoyed as baby Leo cried in his crib.
The nanny had stepped away briefly to grab fresh milk from the distant kitchen downstairs.
Victoria entered the nursery with a scowl and lifted the crying infant out of his bed.
Victoria: Stop that loud noise right now, you annoying little creature!
Victoria: I have an important dinner tonight and I will not tolerate this head-splitting racket!
She carried the baby out toward the top of the sweeping white marble grand staircase.
Sarah was downstairs at the bottom of the foyer, polishing the base of the staircase railing.
She looked up and saw Victoria standing dangerously close to the polished top marble edge.
Victoria held the crying baby loosely with only one hand while holding her phone with another.
Sarah's heart pounded violently against her ribs as she watched the careless scene above her.
Sarah: Mrs. Vance, please be careful near the top landing edge!
Sarah: Let me come up and take baby Leo from you right now!
Victoria: Mind your own business, you foolish little housemaid!
Suddenly, Victoria lost her footing slightly on her high heels near the slippery polished top step.
In a moment of pure panic, Victoria recklessly thrust the crying baby away from her body.
Instead of pulling him close to safety, she shoved the infant outright off the landing edge.
The baby let out a terrified scream as he fell through the open air space.
Sarah did not hesitate for even a single fraction of a terrified second.
She sprinted across the polished marble floor of the grand foyer like a lightning bolt.
She dove forward onto her knees right at the foot of the sweeping staircase landing.
With arms outstretched wide, Sarah caught baby Leo safely in her hands just inches above floor.
The impact knocked the breath straight out of Sarah's chest as she hit the marble.
She slid across the smooth floor, clutching the terrified weeping infant tightly against her body.
Baby Leo: WAAAH! WAAAH!
Sarah lay on her knees on the hard floor, trembling violently from pure shock and horror.
She wrapped her arms securely around the baby, shielding his little head with her body.
Sarah: I got you! I got you, sweet baby!
Sarah: You are safe now! You are safe with me!
Up at the top of the stairs, Victoria stood frozen in total shock and mounting rage.
She realized immediately how terribly wrong her reckless action would look to anyone watching closely.
Her pale face twisted into an expression of desperate malice as she looked down below.
