Two police officers walked into the grand foyer, their boots clicking against the marble floor surface.
Mark walked down the stairs calmly, still holding Lily safe and warm in his arms.
Officer Roberts: Sir, we received the emergency call about an attempted assault here.
Mark: She tried to push my daughter off the balcony right over there.
Victoria: It was a complete misunderstanding! He is lying to you officers!
Mark: Check the security camera footage from the hallway ceiling, Officer.
Victoria froze as she looked up at the high-definition security camera pointing directly at the balcony.
She had forgotten that Mark installed a top-tier security system throughout the entire mansion estate.
Officer Roberts: Ma'am, please put your hands behind your back right now.
Victoria: No! You can't arrest me! Mark, tell them to stop!
Mark: You did this to yourself, Victoria. Take her away.
The officer clicked the cold metal handcuffs around Victoria's wrists before leading her out the front doors.
Mark walked over to the living room couch and sat down with Lily on his lap.
He held his daughter close, kissing the top of her head while she smiled up at him.
Lily: Is she gone forever now, Daddy?
Mark: Yes, sweetie, she is gone and no one will ever hurt you here.
Lily: You saved me like a real superhero today!
Mark: I will always save you, Lily, no matter what happens in this world.
The sun kept shining warmly through the big glass windows, filling the home with bright light.
Mark knew it would take time for Lily to heal from the fear of that awful moment.
