Ethan: Victoria... is this your hand in the video?
Victoria: Ethan, darling! No! Of course not! That video is fake!
Ethan: Don't lie to me! Look at the ring on that finger!
Ethan grabbed Victoria's left hand and held it high for the crowd to see.
The custom eight-carat sapphire engagement ring matched the ring in the smartphone video second for second.
Victoria: Ethan, please! Somebody must have edited that video to frame me!
Ethan: Frame you? You were standing right next to the champagne fountain two minutes ago!
Maya: I recorded that clip with my phone from the kitchen service door, sir.
Victoria: You quiet little cook! Who paid you to lie about me?!
Maya: Nobody paid me, ma'am. I saw you pull a clear glass vial out of your designer purse.
Victoria: You're lying! Security, throw this catering worker out of the building!
Ethan: Nobody touches her! Security, stand back right now!
Ethan stepped between the blonde chef and his frantic fiancée, his chest heaving under his tuxedo jacket.
Ethan: Maya, what did she pour into my glass?
Maya: I don't know the exact chemical name, sir, but it looked like an industrial liquid compound.
Ethan: An industrial liquid compound? You tried to poison me at our own engagement gala?!
Victoria: Ethan, sweetheart, listen to me! I love you! Why would I ever hurt you?
Ethan: Because of my father's trust fund! That's why!
A wave of loud murmurs rippled through the banquet hall as guests began whispering behind their hands.
Guest A: Did she really try to kill him before the wedding?
Guest B: Look at her face! She looks guilty as sin!
Victoria: Ethan, don't listen to these gossipers! We are supposed to get married next month!
Ethan: We were supposed to sign the prenuptial agreement tomorrow morning, Victoria!
Victoria: That... that has nothing to do with this!
Ethan: It has everything to do with this! If I die before the prenup is signed, my entire fifty-million-dollar inheritance goes straight to my spouse!
Victoria: You think I care about your inheritance money?!
Ethan: Yes! I know you care about money more than anything in this world!
Ethan turned toward the head table where his family lawyer, Arthur, was sitting in shock.
Ethan: Arthur! Call the police and city forensic detectives right now!
Arthur: I am dialing emergency services right now, Ethan!
Victoria: No! Don't call the police! Arthur, put that phone down!
Ethan: Why are you so terrified of the police if you're innocent, Victoria?
Victoria: Because... because this will ruin my family's reputation in high society!
Ethan: You ruined your reputation the second you poured liquid poison into my glass!
Ethan looked at the shattered crystal on the marble floor, noticing the liquid fizzing strangely against the white stone surface.
Ethan: Look at the floor! The champagne is eating through the stone polish!
Maya: That's why I smashed the glass out of your hand, sir. I saw it start to bubble in the kitchen light.
Ethan: You saved my life, Maya. I don't even know how to thank you.
Maya: You don't need to thank me, sir. Just make sure she doesn't leave this room.
Victoria backed away toward the rear exit doors, her silver evening dress rustling against the chairs.
Ethan: Where do you think you're going, Victoria?
Victoria: Get away from me, Ethan! You're all crazy!
Ethan: Lock those banquet doors! Nobody leaves until the officers arrive!
