The grand ballroom of the Bellevue Hotel sparkled under three massive crystal chandeliers, reflecting off polished white marble floors. Music played softly as two hundred high-society guests cheered around the center stage. Julian Sterling stood in his black tuxedo, his hand resting over his new bride Victoria’s hand on the silver cake server. Victoria wore a white lace gown, smiling broadly for the news cameras.
Julian: Ready to cut the first slice, sweetheart?
Victoria: Of course, darling. Make sure to feed me the first bite on camera.
Julian: The board members are watching us from the front table.
Victoria: Let them watch us start our new life together.
Julian pressed the sharp blade into the bottom tier of the multi-tiered cake. But before he could slide the server beneath the slice, a loud, panicked voice rang out across the ballroom.
Lily: Stop! Don't eat the first slice!
A seven-year-old girl in a velvet maroon frock ran urgently down the center aisle, her red shoes skidding across the polished marble. She waved her arms in complete panic as guests turned to stare.
Julian: What did you say, Lily?
Victoria: Lily! What are you doing out of your seat?
Lily: Don't touch that slice, Daddy!

Victoria: You little brat! Look what you did to my cake!
Gasps erupted from the crowd. But as the fallen cake slice splattered across the floor, a metallic gleam caught the bright chandelier light. Resting directly inside the white cake layer was a medical syringe with a sharp, long needle protruding from the sponge.
Julian: What... what is that?
