The Missing Trust Money

Julian: Maria, what ledger is she talking about?

Maria: Miss Evelyn had me clean the master study safe three days ago, sir. I found a thick leather binder stamped with offshore bank transfers from Nassau.

Evelyn: You sneaking little thief! You searched my private binder?!

Maria: It was lying open on the desk, Miss Evelyn. I saw Mr. Julian's name forged on every single wire release!

Julian walked over to Evelyn, grabbing her dark navy suit lapels with both hands and forcing her to look him in the eye.

Julian: You forged my signature to steal five million dollars from my trust fund?!

Evelyn: It was an investment! I was going to pay it back after the corporate merger finalized!

Julian: You stole from your own brother! You used my money to pay off your personal gambling debts in Europe!

Evelyn: I was trying to save our family's social standing! If the press found out about my debts, our corporate shares would have plummeted!

Clara: You were going to let me fall through a glass floor just to cover up your financial crimes!

Evelyn: You were in the way, Clara! If you gave birth to that child, the automatic audit would have triggered tomorrow morning!

Julian let out a cold, bitter laugh, releasing her suit lapels so fast she stumbled back against the white wall.

Julian: The audit is happening tomorrow morning regardless, Evelyn.

Evelyn: Julian, no! Call off the auditors! If federal agents look at those accounts, I will go to prison for twenty years!

Julian: That is exactly where you belong.

Distant sirens began to wail through the estate driveway below. Red and blue emergency lights reflected off the modern glass railings of the balcony.

Evelyn: The police?! You called the police to our home?!

Julian: Maria called the police the second you picked up that metal crowbar.

Evelyn: Julian! I am your sister! You can't do this to me!

Julian: You stopped being my sister the second you put a crowbar to the glass beneath my child.
