Handcuffs On Champagne Silk

Eleanor: That child is a bastard! She has no legal right to touch my husband's trust fund!

Victoria: She holds the verified DNA match signed by the state supreme court, Eleanor. She owns this house, she owns your corporate shares, and she owns the ground you are standing on right now.

Distant police sirens began to echo through the estate driveway outside, their red and blue lights flashing through the tall glass windows of the grand ballroom.

Eleanor: Police?! Who called the police to my gala?!

Victoria: I called Detective Vance twenty minutes ago, Eleanor. Right after your son shoved my daughter into a glass cabinet.

The heavy mahogany entrance doors were thrown open once more, and four uniformed police officers marched onto the white marble floor, led by Detective Vance in a dark trench coat.

Detective Vance: Police! Nobody move!

Eleanor: Detective Vance! Thank God you're here! This woman assaulted my son and forced her way into my private residence!

Detective Vance: We aren't here regarding a trespassing claim, Mrs. Sterling. We received a direct dispatch regarding child endangerment, grand corporate fraud, and illegal wire laundering.

Detective Vance held up a digital patrol tablet, displaying high-definition security camera footage from the ballroom ceiling cameras.

Detective Vance: The video clearly shows Julian Sterling forcefully shoving a five-year-old child through a glass display cabinet, causing physical bleeding and severe bodily injury.

Julian: Detective, she tripped on her dress! It was an accident!

Detective Vance: The audio recording captured you shouting 'Out of my way' before extending both hands and violently pushing the child, Julian. That is felony child abuse and assault on a minor.

Victoria: And what about the offshore wire transfers, Detective?

Detective Vance: We have federal arrest warrants signed by the state magistrate for both Julian Sterling and Eleanor Sterling regarding twenty million dollars in stolen trust fund assets.

The two uniformed officers stepped forward, pulling Julian up from the floor and pinning his hands behind his grey suit jacket. The cold, sharp click of steel handcuffs echoed clearly through the silent ballroom.

Julian: Get your hands off me! Mother! Do something! Call our defense attorneys!

Eleanor: Detective, you can't do this! I am Eleanor Sterling! My father built the city library!

Detective Vance: Handcuff her, officers.

The third officer stepped behind Eleanor, pulling her arms behind her off-shoulder champagne gown. The steel cuffs snapped tightly around her wrists, rumpling her expensive silk dress.

Eleanor: Ah! You're hurting my wrists! Victoria, you monster! You ruined my life!

Victoria: You ruined your own life the day you stood by and told my crying daughter to stop ruining your party while her hand was bleeding on the floor, Eleanor.

The officers turned Eleanor and Julian around, guiding them down the center aisle past two hundred high-society guests who held up their smartphones, filming every second of their downfall.

Guest A: Look at the socialite in handcuffs!

Guest B: They tried to steal a five-year-old orphan's inheritance!

Eleanor thrashed against the officer's grip, trying desperately to cover her face, but flashbulbs exploded continuously through the glass doors as news reporters swarmed the driveway outside.

The heavy car door slammed shut with a sharp metallic thud, cutting off her hysterical screaming as the police cruiser pulled away into the night.
