Victoria: "Get my file ready before the board meeting begins."
Assistant Mark: "It's already on your desk, Victoria. Are you sure you want to attend tonight?"
Victoria: "I have to. My father's trust fund decree states the primary heir must present themselves at the annual gala."
Assistant Mark: "Chloe and her stepmother have been telling everyone you abandoned the family years ago."
Victoria: "Let them talk. Words don't hold legal weight. Wills do."
Victoria walked into the high-end hotel lobby, her tailors having spent weeks customizing her signature white tuxedo. She preferred crisp lines over heavy ballgowns. To her, power wasn't about satin or lace; it was about authority. She checked her watch, noticing the gala had already begun on the main floor.
Valet Driver: "Good evening, ma'am. Park it up front?"
Victoria: "Yes, keep the engine ready. I won't be staying longer than necessary."
Valet Driver: "Right away, ma'am."
She walked up the grand staircase, listening to the muffled sound of classical music leaking from the double doors. Her father, Harrison Vance, had passed away six months ago, leaving behind a massive real estate empire worth billions. Ever since his death, his second wife, Eleanor, and her biological daughter, Chloe, had seized control of the family estate, cutting off Victoria's access to the main corporate office.
Security Guard: "Invitation, please."
Victoria: "I don't need an invitation for a gala named after my father."
Security Guard: "Name?"
Victoria: "Victoria Vance."
The guard paused, looking at his guest list, then quickly stepped aside without saying another word. Victoria pushed open the gold-trimmed doors and stepped into the brightly lit ballroom. Instantly, heads began to turn. Her tailored white suit contrasted sharply with the sea of traditional black tuxedos and dark evening gowns.
Guest 1: "Is that Harrison's older daughter?"
Guest 2: "I thought she moved to Europe after the fallout."
Guest 1: "Look at her suit... she looks like she's here to take over."
Victoria ignored the murmurs, grabbing a glass of sparkling water from a passing waiter's tray. She scanned the balcony, spotting Eleanor talking with a group of corporate lawyers and high-stakes investors. Eleanor was smiling, holding court like a queen, completely unaware that Victoria had returned to claim what was legally hers.
Victoria: "Enjoy the spotlight while you can, Eleanor."
She moved toward the center of the floor, standing beneath the massive central chandelier. The room was packed with city officials, estate lawyers, and bank executives. Everything was set for the announcement of the new corporate chairperson. Suddenly, the click of loud high heels snapped her attention toward the grand staircase.
Chloe: "What is she doing here?!"
Chloe was rushing down the stairs, her bright yellow dress billowing behind her. Her face was flushed with anger, and several guests quickly stepped back to give her space as she marched directly toward Victoria.
Chloe: "Who gave you permission to cross that door?"
Victoria: "This is a public charity event for the Vance Foundation, Chloe."
Chloe: "It's OUR foundation now! You have no right to stand in this room!"
Victoria: "Check the deed, little sister. My name is still on the building."
Chloe: "You arrogant bitch!"
Chloe raised her hand, her expression completely unhinged as she prepared to make a scene that would shock the entire city's elite society.
