The Father Returns

The Baby Tumble That Destroyed A Billionaire Family

The heavy mahogany grand entrance doors burst open with a deafening crash that shook the massive crystal chandeliers overhead. A door slamming open SFX reverberated through the space, followed immediately by heavy running footsteps pounding across the driveway stone. Ethan rushed into the foyer in his sharp light grey suit, his tie loosened and his face contorted into a mask of pure panic. He had received an urgent alert from the smart-home security system warning of a violent impact near the main staircase. His eyes darted frantically around the expansive room before locking onto the terrifying scene unfolding at the base of the stairs.

Ethan: What the hell is going on here?! Why are the security alarms blaring?!

Clara: Mr. Vance! Thank god you're finally home! Look what your mother just did!

Ethan: Clara? Why are you holding the baby on the floor? Where is the stroller?!

Victoria: Ethan, darling, thank goodness you're here. This incompetent maid lost her grip and dropped the baby down the stairs!

Clara: You lying, wicked witch! She pushed the stroller right over the edge on purpose!

Ethan stopped dead in the middle of the foyer, looking around in intense anger as his gaze shifted rapidly between the weeping maid and his stone-faced mother. The light grey suit he wore felt like a straitjacket as the suffocating weight of family dysfunction crashed down on his shoulders. He saw the dust on his son's white onesie, the scraped marble edge, and the absolute horror stamped across Clara's pale face. A dark, dangerous realization began to form in the back of his mind, eclipsing every excuse his mother had spent a lifetime manufacturing for him.

Ethan: Stop talking, both of you. Clara, tell me exactly what happened right now.

Clara: What happened?! Who did this?! Your mother walked right up here and pushed the stroller over the railing!

Victoria: Don't be absurd, Ethan. Why would I ever harm my own flesh and blood? She's clearly hysterical and trying to cover her own negligence.

Clara: I was standing right beside her! She looked right at me and laughed before she let go!

Ethan clenched his jaw so tightly that a muscle jumped furiously in his cheek, his breathing turning shallow and ragged. He took a slow, deliberate step forward, ignoring his mother's attempts to regain control of the narrative with her usual aristocratic charm. The multi-million-dollar estate felt less like a sanctuary and more like a crime scene where dark secrets were routinely buried under expensive rugs. He knelt down beside Clara, gently touching his son's tiny hand to ensure there were no critical injuries before turning his blazing eyes upward.

Ethan: Clara, is he hurt badly? Do we need an ambulance right now?

Clara: He's bruised and terrified, Mr. Vance, but he's breathing. Thank god I caught him before he hit the hard base.

Ethan: Hold him tight, Clara. Don't let anyone else near him.

Victoria: Ethan, do not let a domestic employee dictate how you speak to your own mother in this house!
