The Maid In The Mansion

The Arrogant Bride Wet The Maid Not Knowing Her True Identity

The morning sun poured brightly through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the vast Miller estate. Victoria adjusted her diamond engagement ring, admiring the brilliant sparkle under the clear daylight. She was engaged to Julian Miller, the sole heir to Miller Enterprises, one of the largest corporate empires in the country. The upcoming wedding was set to be the event of the decade, bringing together wealthy socialites from every corner of the state. Victoria had spent months ensuring that every detail of the mansion reflected her high standards of luxury. She walked through the grand hallway, her red silk dress swishing against her ankles as her high heels tapped sharply against the polished oak floors. To Victoria, image was everything, and anyone who did not fit her idea of perfection was completely worthless in her eyes.

As Victoria entered the living room, she noticed an elderly woman quietly polishing the antique wooden tables near the fireplace. The woman wore a faded gray apron, comfortable sneakers, and thin wire-rimmed reading glasses resting gently on her nose. Clara had been working around the estate for the past week, moving quietly from room to room without making much noise. Victoria had barely glanced at her before today, assuming she was just another temp hired by the house management agency. Victoria frowned as she noticed a tiny smudge of wood polish on the edge of the side table. Her temper flared instantly, as it always did whenever something failed to meet her expectations. She stepped closer to the older woman, her shadow falling over the small table Clara was wiping down.

Victoria: Is this the best work you can do? Look at this stain right here on the mahogany wood.

Clara: Good morning, Victoria. That is actually an old scratch in the wood grain, not a stain from polish.

Victoria: Did I ask for your opinion on the furniture? I asked why it looks filthy on my watch.

Clara lowered her cleaning cloth and looked up calm and patient, her soft eyes showing neither fear nor anger at the harsh tone. Clara had spent her whole life learning how to read people, and she recognized the deep insecurity behind Victoria's loud voice. But Victoria took Clara's calm quietness as a sign of weakness, stepping even closer until she was towering over the older woman. She raised her hand, pointing her manicured fingernail directly at Clara's face with complete disdain. Victoria believed that money gave her the right to talk down to anyone who worked with their hands for a living.

Victoria: You need to understand your place in this house before the wedding next week.

Clara: I understand my place perfectly well, young lady. I am simply doing what needs to be done here.

Victoria: You are a servant, nothing more. You do not speak to me unless you are answering a question directly.

Clara sighed softly and went back to wiping down the edge of the frame without saying another word. Victoria stood there for a moment, her chest heaving with frustration because she could not break the old woman's quiet composure. She wanted tears, she wanted apologies, and she wanted complete submission from anyone beneath her social standing. Furious that her bitter words had failed to stir any panic, Victoria turned on her heel and strode toward the kitchen. She was determined to make sure the staff understood who was going to be the mistress of this estate very soon.
