Escaping into the Dark Night

She Took the Baby Away from That Wealthy Powerful Family

Sarah pulled open the rear passenger door of the black sedan with one firm hand.

She sat down quickly on the soft leather seat while holding her baby very carefully.

The warm interior air of the vehicle felt so good against her wet cold face.

She gently placed the pink blanketed child into the safe child car seat mounted inside.

She clicked the safe metal harness tightly around her small baby to keep her secure.

Outside the window, Evelyn was running down the marble steps in her high heel shoes.

Her expensive black gown was getting soaked by the heavy rain falling from the roof.

Evelyn: Open that car door right now before I call the city police!

Sarah: Drive away from this house right now, please.

Driver: Are you completely sure you want to leave right now, ma'am?

Sarah: Yes, drive us away immediately and do not look back at them.

The driver shifted the heavy car into gear and stepped firmly on the gas pedal.

The tires made a soft splash against the wet driveway as the car started moving forward.

Sarah turned her head to look out the clear rear window at the fading mansion porch.

Evelyn was standing near the bottom step with her hands held up in total defeat.

Julian was standing completely alone in the rain with his head bowed down low.

He looked so tiny and helpless standing next to his mother's massive dark gray mansion.

Sarah felt a strong wave of mixed emotions wash over her tired mind and body.

She felt sad that her dream of a sweet happy family had ended this way.

But she also felt a bright surge of powerful relief inside her brave motherly heart.

She had finally stood up against the people who tried to buy her dignity away.

Sarah: We are finally free from them now, my sweet little baby girl.

Sarah: Nobody will ever bully us or force us to lie ever again.

The car moved smoothly past the heavy iron front gates of the massive private estate.

The driver turned the vehicle onto the main highway leading back toward the small city.

The red tail lights painted long glowing lines across the wet dark pavement behind them.

Sarah leaned back against the headrest and let out a long slow peaceful deep breath.

She looked down at her daughter who was sleeping peacefully through the entire chaotic escape.

Her tiny hand was sticking out from the pink blanket, resting softly against Sarah's finger.

Sarah squeezed that small hand gently and promised to protect her with her whole life.
