The next morning, Charlotte sat inside her spacious executive corporate office.
Her massive windows looked out over the entire downtown Dallas skyline view.
Her personal secretary walked into the office carrying a high hot coffee.
Secretary: Ma'am, Brandon is downstairs in the main lobby demanding entry.
Secretary: Security guards are holding him at the front glass elevators now.
Charlotte: Send him up with two security officers right behind him.
Five minutes later, Brandon walked into the carpeted corner office room fast.
His suit was wrinkled and his eyes were red from lack of sleep.
He looked completely different from the arrogant man at the dinner table.
Brandon: Charlotte, you need to sign this temporary support spousal document.
Brandon: My mother and I are staying in a terrible dirty hotel downtown!
Charlotte: You are thirty four years old with a valid college degree, Brandon.
Charlotte: It is time for you to finally get a real full-time job.
Brandon: You ruined my entire reputation in front of all my friends!
Charlotte: You ruined your own reputation by taking advantage of my kindness.
Brandon stepped toward her desk with a dark angry look on face.
The two tall security guards immediately stepped forward and blocked his path.
Officer: Take one more step forward and you will be under arrest, sir.
Brandon stopped in his tracks while breathing heavily with deep frustration.
He realized that he had no power or leverage over her anymore.
Charlotte picked up a single white folder from her smooth wooden desk.
Charlotte: Here are the final settlement terms prepared by my legal counsel.
Charlotte: You will receive zero spousal support based on our legal prenup contract.
Charlotte: You have full permission to keep your personal clothing items only.
Charlotte: If you sign today, I will not pursue restitution for unauthorized spending.
Brandon looked at the legal papers spread across the dark wooden table.
He knew that if she sued him for corporate credit card fraud, he would face jail.
His hands shook as he picked up the black ink pen nearby.
He signed his name on the designated lines at the bottom page.
Brandon: You never really loved me at all, did you Charlotte?
Charlotte: I loved you until I saw how you treated my child.
Charlotte: A real man protects his family instead of freeloading off them.
Charlotte: Now please exit my building and never contact my child again.
Brandon dropped the pen onto the desk without saying another single word.
He turned around and walked out with the security guards following closely.
Charlotte leaned back in her high leather chair and took a deep breath.
The heavy weight that pressed on her chest for years was gone.
