Eleanor's face shifted from mild surprise to absolute terror within seconds.
"What is going on here?" Eleanor asked, trying to sound calm.
"You monster!" Richard shouted, standing up to confront his step-wife.
"You locked Sarah in a basement hidden beneath our living room floor?"
Eleanor backed away toward the open front door, her eyes darting nervously.
"Richard, listen to me, she is insane!" Eleanor claimed frantically.
"She tried to ruin our family fortune years ago!" Eleanor lied.
"I did this to protect your massive inheritance and your business!"
Sarah struggled to sit up, supported by young Clara's small arms.
"You poisoned my marriage and stole my life!" Sarah stated clearly.
"You wanted the estate, the trust fund, and my daughter!"
Martha stood up from the floor, looking directly at Eleanor now.
"I have all the bank transfer receipts saved on my phone," Martha announced.
"You paid me fifty thousand dollars every year to keep her locked down."
Eleanor turned around to run out down the driveway toward her sports car.
Two police cruisers pulled into the long circular driveway, blocking her path.
Red and blue lights flashed brightly against the high glass front windows.
Officers stepped out of their vehicles quickly, guns held at their sides.
"Stay right where you are, ma'am!" an officer called out loudly.
Eleanor froze in place, raising her manicured hands into the air.
An officer stepped forward and placed heavy steel handcuffs on her wrists.
Richard held Sarah close as the paramedics rushed into the foyer with gear.
