The Secret In The Safe

My New Bride Hidden Key Revealed Her Family Horrifying Secret

Rosie ran down the grand staircase, her heels clicking rapidly against the polished marble steps as Mark followed close behind. They reached the main foyer of the suburban Dallas estate, heading straight for the front exit doors. But before Mark could push the heavy handles open, a sharp voice echoed from the quiet study near the front entrance of the home.

Stepfather: Put the phone down, Rosie. You are not going anywhere with my money.

Rosie froze in her tracks, her hand stopping inches from the brass door handle as she turned slowly around. Standing in the doorway of the dark mahogany study was her stepfather, Richard, holding a signed legal document in his right hand. His expensive suit was immaculate, but his face was twisted with cold, calculated rage. Beside him sat a small iron vault built directly into the wall behind a painting.

Mark: So you are the mastermind behind this entire nightmare. You hurt your own stepdaughter for a trust fund?

Richard: That money belongs to the estate! Her biological father left me in control until she turned twenty-five!

Rosie: I turned twenty-five today, Richard! The trust fund legally reverted to my name the moment I said my vows!

Richard: Not without the key to the safety deposit box in downtown Dallas! Without that key, the estate rolls over to my company at midnight!

Mark stepped in front of Rosie, pulling the blood-stained brass key out from his tuxedo inner pocket once again. He held it up in the bright entry hall light, watching Richard eyes widen with pure desperation. The wealthy businessman took a step forward, his mask of calm control completely shattering in an instant.

Mark: You paid that doctor to drug her and lock her away so she could never access her inheritance!

Richard: She was an ungrateful child who deserved nothing! I spent ten years managing that company!

Rosie: You stole millions from my father business while he was dying! We found the records in the old home safe!

Richard: Give me that key, Mark! I will pay you ten million dollars right now! Just hand it over and walk away!

Mark looked down at the brass key in his hand, then back at his wife bruises and torn dress. The thought of taking money from the monster who had abused Rosie filled him with absolute disgust. He gripped the key tighter, stepping closer to Richard until they were standing eye to eye in the grand foyer of the estate.

Mark: My wife is worth more than all your dirty money combined. You are going to prison for a long time.

The sharp sound of police sirens began to echo down the long suburban street outside, drawing closer with every passing second. Richard face drained of all color as the flashing red and blue lights illuminated the high windows of the estate foyer.
