Justice For My Family

Victoria: Chloe! Stop them! Tell them you made a mistake!

Chloe: I made a lot of mistakes, Victoria. Letting you live under my roof after Dad died was the biggest one.

Victoria: You will burn in hell for doing this to your own mother!

Chloe: I am surviving, Victoria. Just like you said you were trying to do. Only I am doing it to protect my child from a monster.

Officer Miller clicked the cold steel handcuffs around Victoria's wrists, leading the trembling older woman toward the heavy oak doors of the estate.

Victoria: Mark! Call our family lawyer! Tell him to post bail immediately!

Mark: The family lawyer works for the estate corporation, Victoria. And as of eight o'clock this morning, his services have been restricted to Chloe's defense team only.

Victoria: You left me with nothing... you left me with absolutely nothing!

Chloe: You did this to yourself, Victoria. You traded your family for money, and now you have neither.

The officers guided Victoria out onto the driveway, where two black-and-white police cruisers sat with their emergency lights flashing quietly against the morning sky.

Chloe stood on the front porch holding baby Sophia close to her chest, feeling the soft weight of her daughter's head resting safely against her shoulder.

Elena: Miss Chloe... I am so sorry I didn't come to you earlier when she first brought me the powder.

Chloe: You saved my daughter's life today, Elena. You have nothing to apologize for.

Elena: Am I... am I going to lose my job because of the police investigation?

Chloe: Lose your job? Elena, you are family now. You are staying right here, and I am doubling your salary starting today.

Elena: Thank you, Miss Chloe... thank you so much!

Mark stepped up beside Chloe, wrapping a protective arm around her golden satin robe as they watched the police car drive down the long gravel driveway.

Mark: The estate lawyers just sent over the final paperwork. The emergency court order has been granted.

Chloe: Victoria's power of attorney is officially revoked?

Mark: Stripped completely. The court froze all her offshore accounts, and the mansion deed is now one hundred percent in your name.

Chloe: What about the corporate board meeting this afternoon?

Mark: I called the vice president. The board unanimously voted to remove Victoria from her honorary seat on the executive committee.

Chloe looked down at baby Sophia, who was fast asleep in her arms, completely unaware of the storm that had just passed over her home.

Chloe: She thought she could destroy our lives just to save her luxury lifestyle.

Mark: She underestimated how far you would go to protect this baby.

Chloe: Nobody touches my family, Mark. Not even my own mother.

Mark kissed Chloe gently on the forehead as the sun broke through the morning clouds, illuminating the grand facade of the estate that was finally, truly theirs.

Mark: Let's go inside and clean up the foyer. We have a fresh start ahead of us.

Chloe: Yes. A fresh start without any more lies.

Chloe turned and walked back into the warm, bright house, closing the heavy doors firmly behind her, leaving the dark ghost of her mother's greed outside forever.
