Victoria's eyes went wide with pure fear when she saw the phone.
Victoria: You cannot call the police on your own wife, Julian!
Victoria: Think about the scandal it will cause for your company!
Julian: My company is not as important as my mother's life.
He dialed the emergency number and pressed the phone to his ear.
Victoria lunged forward to grab the phone out of his hands.
Julian stepped sideways quickly and blocked her with his shoulder.
Victoria stumbled to the wood again, her silk dress getting dirty.
She began to cry tears of frustration and wild panic.
Victoria: Please, Julian, we can talk about this inside the house!
Julian: Hello, operator? I need an ambulance and police at the lake house.
Julian: My wife just tried to drown my mother in the lake.
Victoria screamed in anger and scrambled up from the wooden floor.
She realized that her comfortable life was slipping away fast.
She turned around and began running back toward the main house.
Julian did not run after her down the long dark path.
He knew there was only one entrance road out of the property.
His security team was already standing near the front gate guards.
Julian knelt back down beside his shivering mother on the cold wood.
Julian: Stay still, Mom. The ambulance will be here soon.
Eleanor: I am so sorry, Julian. I knew she was dangerous.
Julian: Do not apologize to me, Mom. I was the blind one.
He held her tight to keep her warm against the autumn wind.
Up at the house, the music suddenly stopped as guests noticed the commotion.
Victoria ran past the open glass patio doors into the bright living room.
She tried to reach the front door to get her luxury car keys.
Two large security guards stepped into the hallway and blocked her path.
Guard: Mrs. Vance, Mr. Vance told us to keep everyone inside.
Victoria: Get out of my way! You work for me too!
Guard: We take orders directly from Julian Vance, ma'am.
The guests inside the party began whispering and pointing at Victoria.
Her green dress was torn at the hem and covered in wet dirt.
Her makeup was smeared across her pale face in ugly streaks.
She looked completely different from the calm, stylish woman of earlier.
Sirens began to wail in the distance, growing louder every second.
Victoria sank onto the leather sofa in the entry hall and wept.
