Julianna: You set me up... You knew I was coming here today!
Lucian: I knew you were arrogant enough to come here and try to intimidate Clara into signing a waiver on her father's estate.
Julianna: Lucian, please! Think about our history! We were going to buy the penthouse downtown together!
Lucian: I only pretended to go along with your mother's marriage proposal so I could stay close enough to this estate to protect Clara!
Clara: You... you pretended to be engaged to her just to protect me?
Lucian: Your father asked me to keep an eye on them three months before he died, Clara. He knew his wife was trying to isolate him, but he needed time to get the evidence together.
Julianna: You lied to me for six months?! You made me believe you loved me!
Lucian: I could never love a woman who steps on an injured girl lying on the floor, Julianna.
Julianna: I was angry! She threatened to take my mother to court! Anyone would have lost their temper!
Clara: You stepped on me because you thought nobody was watching, Julianna. You showed who you really are when you thought you had total power over me.
Julianna: You're nothing without Lucian! You're just a weak, crying girl who couldn't even keep her own father alive!
Lucian stood up slowly, walking over to the mahogany desk near the corner of the room. He picked up a black leather briefcase and unlocked the twin brass latches with a loud click.
Lucian: Do you know what is inside this briefcase, Julianna?
Julianna: I don't care what is in your briefcase!
Lucian: This is the contents of the hidden wall safe behind the portrait in Arthur's private study.
Julianna's eyes widened in horror, her hands flying up to cover her mouth as she stared at the open leather case.
Julianna: The safe... How did you get the combination?! My mother changed the lock last month!
Lucian: Your mother changed the keypad, but she didn't know Arthur installed a secondary mechanical lock that required a physical key.
Clara: The key my father gave me on my twenty-first birthday... the silver key I wore on my necklace!
Lucian: Exactly, Clara. Your father gave you the key to his entire life's work, and your stepmother had no idea it even existed.
Lucian pulled a stack of sealed legal documents bound in red ribbon out of the briefcase and set them on the glass table.
Lucian: This is Arthur Vance's true last will and testament, drafted and notarized by the state supreme court two weeks before his death.
Julianna: That document is fake! My mother has the only legal will!
Lucian: Your mother has a forged document signed by a fake notary who is currently in police custody in Florida, Julianna.
Clara: What does my father's real will say, Lucian?
Lucian: He left ninety percent of the Vance enterprise shares, this mansion, and all personal bank accounts directly to you, Clara.
Julianna: Ninety percent?! What about my mother?! She was his legal wife!
Lucian: He left your mother a lump sum of ten thousand dollars, contingent on her signing a full release of all future claims against the estate.
Julianna: Ten thousand dollars?! That won't even cover my mother's credit card bills for this month!
Lucian: Then your mother should have thought twice before spending millions of dollars of Arthur's money on private jets and luxury shopping sprees while he lay sick in his bed.
Julianna: This isn't fair! We gave three years of our lives to this family!
Clara: You didn't give three years to this family, Julianna. You spent three years trying to erase me and my mother from this house!
The distant sound of police sirens echoed down the long gated driveway outside the floor-to-ceiling glass patio doors, growing louder by the second.
Julianna: What is that noise... Lucian, who did you call?!
Lucian: I didn't call anyone, Julianna. The District Attorney dispatched the state police unit the moment he saw you assault Clara on the live camera feed.
