Within minutes, the loud wail of police sirens echoed down the long driveway of the Dallas mansion. Flashing red and blue lights shone brightly through the tall floor-to-ceiling glass doors, painting the white marble pillars in sharp, dramatic colors.
The heavy entrance doors swung wide open again, and three uniformed Dallas police officers entered the grand foyer, their heavy boots clicking firmly against the stone.
Officer Martinez: "Dallas Police! We received a dispatch call regarding felony child abuse and grand theft."
Richard: "Officer Martinez, thank you for arriving so quickly. I am Richard Vance, the owner of this estate."
Officer Martinez: "What is the situation here, sir?"
Richard: "My wife, Victoria Vance, physically assaulted my seven-year-old son by shoving him down the grand staircase, and attempted to steal original estate deeds from my safe."
Victoria: "Officer! That's a complete lie! My husband is trying to frame me so he doesn't have to pay me in our divorce!"
Officer Martinez: "Ma'am, stay where you are on those stairs."
Richard: "Officer, we have full 4K security footage capturing the entire assault from start to finish, along with eye-witness testimony from my son's caregiver."
Richard handed the tablet directly to Officer Martinez. The officer watched the video playback twice, his face hardening as he looked up at the woman in the green sequin dress.
Officer Martinez: "Ma'am, stand up and put your hands behind your back."
Victoria: "What?! You're arresting ME?! I am Victoria Vance! You can't touch me!"
Officer Martinez: "You are under arrest for felony injury to a child, grand larceny, and destruction of legal property."
The second officer moved up the stairs, pulling Victoria to her feet and snapping cold steel handcuffs tightly around her wrists. Victoria shrieked frantically, her expensive emerald earrings shaking as she struggled against the officer's firm grip.
Victoria: "Richard! Tell them to stop! You can't let them take me out of my own house in handcuffs! Think about our reputation!"
Richard: "You destroyed your own reputation the moment you laid a finger on my son."
Toby: "Bye-bye, mean lady!"
The officers escorted the screaming woman down the grand marble staircase, past the vertical American flag, and out through the double doors into the back of the waiting patrol cruiser. The heavy doors clicked shut, restoring a sense of profound stillness to the mansion.
Richard walked over to Hannah and Toby, kneeling down and taking his son into a tight, warm embrace.
Richard: "I am so sorry I didn't see through her lies sooner, Toby. I promise you, nobody will ever hurt you in this house again."
Hannah: "He's going to be okay, Mr. Vance. We should take him to the hospital just to get his wrist examined."
Richard: "Yes, immediately. And Hannah... thank you. You saved my son today."
Hannah: "I love Toby like my own family, sir. I would do anything to protect him."
