The Arrest At The Gate

Her Stepmother Pushed Her Son Until Her Husband Found Out

Outside near the grand wrought-iron driveway gate, a black luxury sedan sat idling, its tires spinning against the wet gravel. Eleanor pounded her fists against the steering wheel, screaming in frustration as the heavy iron gates refused to budge.

Eleanor: Open this gate! Open it right now, you useless guards!

Suddenly, three Dallas police cruisers turned onto the driveway from the main road, their blue and red lights flashing bright against the afternoon sun. They pulled up right behind her sedan, blocking her in completely.

Detective Vance: Eleanor Sterling! Step out of the vehicle with your hands where we can see them!

Eleanor: Detective Vance?! What is the meaning of this outrage?! I am a personal donor to your police charity foundation!

Detective Vance: Step out of the car, ma'am. We have a warrant issued by the magistrate for attempted murder, child endangerment, and conspiracy to commit financial fraud.

Eleanor: Attempted murder?! Have you lost your mind?! I was taking care of my grandson by the pool!

Mark and Hannah walked down the driveway, holding Toby between them as Detective Vance pulled Eleanor out of the driver's seat and pinned her arms behind her back.

Eleanor: Mark! Tell this man to unhand me! This is an absolute disgrace!

Mark: The only disgrace here is you, Eleanor. We listened to the phone call you made to Arthur five minutes before you pushed Toby.

Eleanor's eyes grew wide with terror, her jaw trembling as the metal handcuffs clicked tightly around her wrists.

Eleanor: You... you recorded my phone call?!

Detective Vance: The patio microphone caught every word, Mrs. Sterling. Arthur Vance was arrested at his law office ten minutes ago. He's already cooperating with federal prosecutors to reduce his sentence.

Eleanor: That weak little rat! He promised me the paper trail was completely clean!

Detective Vance: You have the right to remain silent, Mrs. Sterling. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.

Hannah: Goodbye, Eleanor. Enjoy spending your trust fund on prison bail.

Eleanor: You ruined my family, Hannah! You stole my son and my legacy!

Mark: You destroyed yourself, Eleanor. Get her out of my sight, Detective.

The officers loaded Eleanor into the back of the police cruiser, closing the door firmly as her screaming voice was cut off by the heavy glass. The cruisers turned around and drove down the long estate driveway, disappearing into the distance.
