Officer Davis looked quickly around the opulent hall to assess the situation.
He saw Clara crying while leaning heavily on Marcus for physical support.
Then he looked up at Evelyn, who was standing frozen on the grand staircase.
Officer Davis: What happened here, and who placed the emergency call?
Marcus: I called you, sir, after I witnessed a serious crime.
Evelyn: Officer, this guard is making up wild stories to protect a confused girl!
Clara: She pushed me off the balcony because she wants my inheritance money!
Evelyn: She lost her balance near the railing, and Marcus is lying for her!
Officer Davis held up a hand to quiet both women immediately.
He walked over to Clara and carefully checked her for any physical injuries.
Officer Davis: Are you injured anywhere, ma'am?
Clara: My ankle hurts, but Marcus caught me before I hit the floor.
Officer Davis: Is there any security video recording inside this portion of the home?
Evelyn's face instantly lost all of its remaining color when the officer asked that question.
Marcus pointed toward a small, black dome camera mounted discreetly on the high wall.
Marcus: That high-definition camera records the entire second-floor balcony continuously.
Clara: The footage saves automatically to a secure server in my father's private office.
Evelyn shifted uncomfortably on the stairs as panic began to settle into her eyes.
She realized her perfect scheme was falling apart right in front of her.
