Victoria: Julian! Do something! Tell them this is a mistake! I'm your wife!
Julian: You were my wife until eight o'clock this morning, Victoria. The annulment papers were filed the second your offshore accounts were frozen.
Victoria: Annulment?! You can't annul our marriage! We've been married for three years!
Julian: Fraudulent representation of legal identity is grounds for immediate annulment in this state. You lied about your background, your financial debts, and your involvement in my brother's company bankruptcy.
Detective: Hands behind your back, Mrs. Vance. Do not make this harder than it needs to be.
Victoria: Don't touch me! These gold sequins cost thirty thousand dollars! Julian, please! I did everything for us! I did it for our future!
Julian: You didn't do anything for us, Victoria. You did it for yourself. You couldn't stand seeing Maya hold the key to the family legacy.
The officers stepped forward, spinning Victoria around and pulling her wrists behind her back. The cold steel handcuffs clicked loudly over her sparkling gold bracelets. She thrashing violently, her heels slipping on the wine-stained floor as the officers escorted her toward the exit doors.
Victoria: Maya! You little snake! You planned this! You knew the camera was up there!
Maya: I didn't know anything, Victoria... I just came here because I thought you were finally going to let me say goodbye to my father's house.
Victoria: You'll pay for this! Both of you! My legal team will destroy you in court!
Julian: Your legal team was taken into custody fifteen minutes ago at their downtown office, Victoria. Your lead attorney is currently cooperating with federal agents in exchange for a plea bargain.
Victoria gasped, her voice completely giving out as the officers pushed her through the heavy double doors into the main courtyard where dozens of gala guests were standing. The crowd gasped in shock, pulling out their phones to film the grand hostess being led away in chains, her golden dress stained with the very wine she had poured over Maya.
The heavy doors swung shut, leaving the hallway in sudden, peaceful quiet. Julian turned back toward Maya, kneeling down beside her once again on the checkered marble.
Julian: Are you okay to stand up, Maya?
Maya: My legs are shaking... I can't believe it's finally over...
Julian: It's completely over. She will never step foot in this house again. And she will never hurt you again.
Julian helped her up gently, supporting her weight as she wiped the remaining tears from her eyes. The silk jacket wrapped around her shoulders kept her warm against the cool hall draft.
Maya: What happens to the estate now, Julian?
Julian: That depends on you, Maya. It's your home now.
