Brandon: Step back, everyone[cite: 1]. Nobody touches their drinks[cite: 1].
Vanessa: Brandon, darling, this is absolute nonsense[cite: 1]! She's a three-year-old child[cite: 1]. She plays imagination games all day long[cite: 1].
Brandon: Lily doesn't lie, Vanessa[cite: 1]. She never has[cite: 1].
Vanessa: You're going to publicly humiliate me at our own engagement dinner because of a toddler's fairytale[cite: 1]?
Lily: It's not a fairytale[cite: 1]! She put white powder from her gold purse into the glass[cite: 1]!
Brandon: From your purse[cite: 1]?
Brandon turned his gaze toward the small gold clutch resting on the table next to Vanessa's plate[cite: 1].
Vanessa: Don't you touch my personal belongings[cite: 1]!
Brandon: Why not[cite: 1]? If there's nothing inside, what are you afraid of[cite: 1]?
Vanessa: I have my privacy rights[cite: 1]! You are being totally ridiculous right now[cite: 1]!
Guest Arthur: Brandon, mate, is this really necessary[cite: 1]? It's a formal evening[cite: 1].
Brandon: Arthur, my life has been threatened twice this month[cite: 1]. I survived an unknown stomach ulcer three weeks ago[cite: 1]. Now my daughter says my wine is poisoned[cite: 1]. Yes, it is necessary[cite: 1].
Vanessa: I am your fiancee[cite: 1]! I love you[cite: 1]! Why would I ever hurt you[cite: 1]?
Lily: Because she told the driver man that when you go sleep forever, all the houses belong to her[cite: 1]!
The entire table went dead quiet[cite: 1]. Several guests pulled back their chairs, exchange terrified, wide-eyed glances[cite: 1].
Brandon: Which driver, Lily[cite: 1]?
Lily: The man with the scar on his neck[cite: 1]. The one who takes us to the park[cite: 1].
Brandon: Carter[cite: 1]?
Brandon's face turned completely cold[cite: 1]. Carter was his personal chauffeur and head of house security[cite: 1].
Vanessa: She's confusing names[cite: 1]! She hears adults talking and makes up stories[cite: 1]!
Brandon: Carter is standing right outside the penthouse door right now[cite: 1].
Vanessa: Brandon, please, sit down and drink your wine[cite: 1]. Let's just enjoy the evening[cite: 1].
Brandon: You seem very eager for me to drink this specific glass, Vanessa[cite: 1].
Vanessa: I spent hours planning this party for your corporate merger[cite: 1]! You are ruining everything[cite: 1]!
Brandon: If it's just wine, then you drink it[cite: 1].
Brandon picked up the crystal glass and held it out directly toward Vanessa[cite: 1].
Vanessa: What[cite: 1]?
Brandon: Prove Lily wrong[cite: 1]. Take a sip[cite: 1].
Vanessa: I... I prefer white wine[cite: 1]. You know red gives me terrible migraines[cite: 1].
Brandon: Just one small sip, Vanessa[cite: 1]. Clear your name right now in front of everyone[cite: 1].
Vanessa stared at the red liquid inside the glass[cite: 1]. Her hands began to shake visibly, her manicured nails digging into the sides of her blue dress[cite: 1]. She took a half-step backward[cite: 1].
Brandon: Drink it[cite: 1].
Vanessa: Get that away from me[cite: 1]!
Vanessa suddenly swung her hand forward, slapping the crystal glass out of Brandon's grip[cite: 1]. The glass shattered against the white marble floor, splashing deep red wine across the rug and the base of the US flag stand[cite: 1].
