Three hours later, the sun began to set over the rolling hills of the Sterling estate, casting a warm golden light through the living room windows. Sarah sat comfortably on the large velvet sofa, wrapped in a warm blanket while sipping a fresh mug of tea prepared by the head housekeeper.
Richard sat beside her, holding her hand tightly, while Lily sat on the floor near their feet, drawing a picture with a new set of colored pencils.
Richard: The doctor said you just need rest and proper nutrition for a few days, Sarah. There's no permanent physical damage, thank God.
Sarah: I was so scared, Richard... I thought I'd never see you or Lily again.
Richard: I'm so sorry, honey. I should have seen through Victoria's lies months ago. I should have paid closer attention to the accounts.
Sarah: You were busy trying to keep the company afloat after the merger. None of us knew how far she was willing to go.
Lily set her pencil down and looked up at her parents, holding up her paper with a proud smile.
Lily: Look, Mommy! I drew us!
Sarah leaned down, taking the drawing from her daughter's hands. It showed Richard, Sarah, and Lily standing in front of their home under a bright yellow sun, with a small silver hammer drawn right in the middle of Lily's hand.
Sarah: Oh, Lily... it's beautiful.
Richard: You were so brave today, sweetheart. Breaking that lock was the bravest thing I've ever seen anyone do.
Lily: I had to save Mommy! The hammer was heavy, but I didn't give up!
Richard: You saved our whole family, Lily. From now on, nobody will ever come between us again.
Richard pulled both Sarah and Lily into a tight embrace, holding them close as the last rays of sunlight vanished behind the horizon. The dark days of fear and deceit were finally over, and the Sterling family was finally safe in their own home.
