Daniel: Effective immediately, the engagement between myself and Chloe Vance is officially terminated.
Chloe: Daniel! No! You can't do this to me in front of everyone!
Daniel: The prenuptial agreement has been shredded, the wedding venue has been canceled, and your access to the guest house is revoked as of this moment.
Victoria: Daniel Vance, you cannot humiliate my daughter like this publicly! We will sue you for breach of marriage contract!
Margarethe: On what legal grounds, Victoria?
Margarethe stood up from her chair, her navy dress flowing elegantly behind her as she looked down at the pale, trembling woman across the table.
Margarethe: The Sterling trust fund charter explicitly states that any individual who exhibits abusive behavior, physical assault, or criminal damage toward a family member forfeits all rights to any marital assets or financial settlements.
Victoria: Physical assault?! It was just a bucket of water!
Margarethe: Throwing industrial cleaning chemicals over an elderly woman constitutes assault under state law, Victoria. My legal team filed the formal police report two hours ago.
Two uniformed police officers stepped through the main entrance of the dining room, holding a official document folder.
Officer Martinez: Chloe Vance?
Chloe: What... what is this?! Why are the police here?!
Officer Martinez: Ma'am, we have a summons for your formal deposition regarding an incident of misdemeanor assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress filed by Margarethe Sterling.
Chloe: You're arresting me at my own gala dinner?!
Officer Martinez: You aren't under arrest yet, ma'am, but you are required to step outside and receive these legal documents immediately.
Chloe burst into hysterical tears, her heavy gold gown catching on the chair as she stumbled backward. The dinner guests pulled out their smartphones, taking photos and recording videos of Chloe being escorted out of the grand dining room by two uniformed officers.
Victoria: This is a nightmare! Our family reputation is completely ruined!
Margarethe: Your daughter ruined her own reputation the moment she decided that kindness was optional, Victoria. Now, please take your belongings and leave my home.
Victoria grabbed her luxury handbag and scurried out the side exit, trying desperately to shield her face from the flashing phone cameras of the high-society guests.
Daniel stepped up beside his mother, wrapping a supportive arm around her shoulders as the dining room erupted into warm applause from the remaining guests.
Daniel: I'm sorry you had to go through that to teach me a lesson, Mom.
Margarethe: You didn't need a lesson in kindness, Daniel. You just needed to see who was standing in the dark when the lights came on.
