Officer 1: Mr. Vance, stand up and place your hands behind your back.
Julian: Wait! Officer, you don't understand! This is a private family matter! My wife and I just had a minor disagreement!
Officer 1: Sir, we have three hundred witnesses and video confirmation of domestic assault. Stand up right now or we will assist you to your feet.
Julian: Clara! Tell them to stop! Tell them you're fine! Look at you, you don't even have a cut!
Clara: I have a red handprint on my face, Julian. And my daughter is traumatized. You are going to jail tonight.
The officers grabbed Julian by his arms, hauling him up off the marble floor. Julian thrashed against their grip, his black tuxedo jacket ripping slightly at the shoulder as the metal handcuffs clicked tightly around his wrists.
Julian: Get your hands off me! Do you know who I am?! I am the chief executive of Vance Logistics!
Officer 2: You're a suspect under arrest, sir. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.
Julian: Clara! You won't get a single cent of my personal estate! My lawyers will drag this divorce out for ten years! You'll be broke before you ever see a trial date!
Clara: My father's legal team is already handling the divorce filing, Julian. And since you committed domestic violence on camera, the judge has already signed a temporary restraining order granting me full custody of Lily and exclusive use of the family estate.
Julian: You planned this whole thing! You brought me to this gala just to humiliate me!
Clara: I brought you here to give you one last chance to be a father, Julian. But when you raised your hand against me in front of our daughter, you showed everyone exactly who you are.
The crowd parted as the officers marched Julian down the center carpet toward the main entrance. Guests pulled out their smartphones, filming every second of the disgraced billionaire being led away in handcuffs. Flashes illuminated his furious, tear-stained face as he was marched out into the cold night air toward waiting police cruisers.
The heavy oak doors of the ballroom closed behind him, cutting off his desperate screams. A heavy silence settled over the room, broken only by the soft hum of the crystal chandeliers.
Clara took a deep, clear breath. She knelt on the floor, bringing herself down to eye level with her daughter. She reached out, gently wiping away the remaining tears from Lily's soft pink cheeks.
Clara: Hey, sweetie... look at me. It's over now. He's gone.
Lily: Is Daddy ever coming back to our house?
Clara: No, baby. Nobody is ever going to hurt us in our house again. I promise you.
Lily wrapped her small arms tightly around Clara's neck, resting her head against her mother's shoulder. Clara pulled the little girl close, standing up on the marble floor with her head held high.
