The Men in Dark Suits

The entire room froze. The music died out instantly, replaced by the heavy, synchronized thud of polished leather boots marching into the white marble hall. A squad of ten tall, muscular men dressed in identical charcoal-gray suits walked inside, surrounding the main ballroom floor in a precise military formation.

Julian: What is the meaning of this? Who hired these private guards? This is a private Vance family estate event!

Margarethe: Security, remove these intruders immediately! Who let them through the front gates?

The head of the estate security team stepped back nervously, his face pale as he looked at the leader of the tactical squad.

Estate Guard: Sir... we can't stop them. They have federal clearance and high-level corporate authorization. The main gate was opened from the city command center.

Chloe: What are you talking about? This is our mansion! Julian, do something!

Julian: Hey! You people can't just barge into my charity gala! I am Julian Vance, senior partner at Vance Capital!

The leader of the squad, a broad-shouldered man with a scar along his jaw, completely ignored Julian. He walked straight past the shocked guests, stopping two feet away from Vivian. He bowed his head respectfully.

Squad Leader: Young Lady, we are here. Are you injured?

Vivian: I'm fine, Marcus. Just... bruised. They destroyed my dress.

Marcus: Understood, Miss. Your father is stepping out of the vehicle right now. He asked us to secure the perimeter before he walks in.

Margarethe: Father? What father? That little mechanic from the North side?

Chloe: Haha! Did her broke dad hire some local security agency on a credit card just to look tough? This is hilarious!

Julian: Vivian, what kind of childish stunt is this? You think bringing a few hired bodyguards is going to make us forget about the missing necklace?

Vivian: You still think this is about a stupid necklace, Julian?

Julian: Of course it is! You stole from my family! And now you're making an even bigger fool of yourself!

Marcus: Quiet down, sir. You are speaking to the heiress of the Sterling Global Group.

A heavy, suffocating silence fell over the room. The guests held their breath, looking back and forth between Vivian and the military-grade bodyguards.

Julian: Sterling... Global? What nonsense are you talking about? Sterling Global owns the entire financial district! They own the bank that holds our mortgage!

Margarethe: Don't let them bluff you, Julian! Her last name is Hayes! Vivian Hayes!

Marcus: Her mother's maiden name was Hayes. She used it during her university years to live a normal life away from greedy social climbers like you.

The massive grand doors opened once more. A tall, distinguished gentleman in a bespoke pinstripe suit stepped into the hall. His silver hair was neatly combed back, and his sharp, icy blue eyes scanned the room until they landed on Vivian's torn dress.

Arthur Sterling: Who did this to my daughter?

Julian: Mr... Mr. Sterling?

Arthur Sterling: I asked a question, young man. Which one of you touched my daughter?

Arthur walked down the marble stairs, every footstep echoing through the silent room like a ticking clock. Margarethe's hand began to tremble, the champagne glass in her grip rattling uncontrollably.

Arthur Sterling: Vivian... sweetheart, come here.

Vivian stepped forward, wrapping her arms around her ruined dress as her father draped his heavy cashmere coat over her shoulders.

Vivian: Dad... Julian held my arms while his sister ripped my dress. His mother called me a street thief.

Arthur turned his gaze toward Julian, his expression turning colder than ice.

Arthur Sterling: Is that so? You laid your hands on my pregnant daughter in front of a crowd?

Julian: Mr. Sterling... wait! This is a huge misunderstanding! We didn't know... Vivian never told us!

Arthur Sterling: She didn't tell you because I asked her to test your character before she handed you the three-hundred-million-dollar estate investment trust. And it seems you failed miserably.
