The Lies At The Landing

Victoria: Jason, how could you hit your own sister?! I'm your flesh and blood!

Jason: You just pushed my pregnant wife down a marble staircase! You could have killed her and my child!

Victoria: I told you she tripped on her own gown! She's lying to you to turn you against me!

Jason ignored her screaming, turning his back immediately and dropping down to the floor beside Chloe again.

Jason: Chloe, stay still. Don't try to move your legs, sweetheart. The ambulance is coming.

Chloe: Jason... she pushed me... she said I didn't belong in this mansion...

Jason: I know, baby. I know. Just focus on breathing for me. Look at my eyes.

Victoria: She's putting on a show, Jason! Look at her, she isn't even bleeding! She wants the family trust fund for herself!

Jason: Shut up, Victoria! Just shut your mouth before I lose my mind completely!

Victoria: You brought this gold-digger into Dad's estate! Ever since Father passed away, you've handed everything over to her!

Chloe: I never wanted your father's money, Victoria... I just wanted a family...

Jason: She didn't ask for a single cent, Victoria! You're the one who drained three million dollars from the family business last month!

Victoria's face turned completely white, her hands dropping from her bruised cheek.

Victoria: What... what are you talking about? That was an investment for my fashion brand!

Jason: I looked at the bank statements this morning. You didn't invest a penny. You used our family money to cover your illegal gambling debts in Las Vegas!

Chloe: Jason... the pain is getting worse...

Jason: Hold my hand, Chloe! Hold it tight!

The heavy front double doors of the Dallas mansion burst open, and two paramedics rushed into the foyer carrying a stretcher and emergency equipment bags.

Paramedic Mark: Sir, step back! Let us evaluate the patient immediately!

Jason: Please help her! She's seven months pregnant and fell down the entire flight of stairs!

Paramedic Sarah: Ma'am, can you hear me? Keep your head still. What's your name?

Chloe: Chloe... my name is Chloe... please check my baby...

Paramedic Sarah: Her heart rate is spikeing, Mark! We need to stabilize her neck and get her to Dallas General right now!

Jason: I'm coming with you in the ambulance!

Victoria: Jason, you can't leave me here with the police! Tell them this was an accident!

Jason turned around slowly, looking at Victoria with cold, lifeless eyes that showed no mercy.

Jason: You're going to answer for what you did, Victoria. If anything happens to my wife or my child, I will make sure you spend the rest of your life in a Texas prison.

Victoria: You wouldn't do that to your sister! Dad would never forgive you!

Jason: Dad would be disgusted by what you've become.

The paramedics carefully lifted Chloe onto the stretcher, rolling her quickly out the front entrance toward the flashing red lights of the ambulance vehicle parked on the long driveway.

Two Texas state troopers stepped inside the foyer just as the paramedics cleared the door, their hands resting firmly on their belts.

Officer Ramirez: Who called 911 regarding an assault on the premises?

Jason: I did, Officer. That woman in the silver dress pushed my pregnant wife down the stairs. I have full security camera footage from the foyer ceiling.

Victoria gasped, her eyes turning toward the small black camera lens mounted high near the crystal chandelier.

Victoria: No... that camera isn't active! You told me the security system was off for repairs!

Jason: I lied to you, Victoria. I had the system upgraded yesterday because I knew you were stealing from the house safe.

Officer Ramirez: Ma'am, step down the stairs slowly with your hands where we can see them.

Victoria: Officer, listen to me! I am a Sterling! My family owns this entire neighborhood! You can't touch me!

Officer Ramirez: Ma'am, turn around and put your hands behind your back right now.

The steel handcuffs clicked loudly in the quiet foyer as Victoria began to scream hysterically, her expensive dress twisting as the officers led her out into the bright afternoon sun.
