The Fall of Sterling Enterprises

Three days later, the news of the ballroom arrest was trending across every major television network in the country. The video of Clara standing bloodied and victorious under the bright lights had gathered over fifty million views worldwide.

Outside the corporate headquarters of Sterling Financial, federal agents were seen carrying dozens of boxes containing financial files, hard drives, and private ledgers into marked government vans.

Inside the hospital room on the top floor of the city medical center, Clara lay in a crisp white bed with clean white bandages wrapped around her legs and cheek. The morning sun poured through the blinds, casting a warm light across the room.

The door opened softly, and Captain Vance walked in carrying a large bouquet of yellow sunflowers—her father's favorite flowers.

Captain Vance: Good morning, Clara. How are you feeling today?

Clara: Much better, Captain. The doctors said the stitches on my face will heal without leaving major scars.

Captain Vance: Scars or no scars, you're a hero to millions of people right now. The whole city is talking about what you did in that ballroom.

Clara: I didn't do it to be a hero. I did it because nobody else was going to stand up to Victoria and Julian Sterling.

Captain Vance: Well, you don't have to worry about them ever again. Victoria's legal team attempted to negotiate a plea deal this morning, but the district attorney rejected it outright.

Clara: What about the security guards who held me in the back room?

Captain Vance: They all signed full confessions in exchange for reduced sentences. They confirmed that Julian ordered them to restrain you and break your phone before the gala began.

Clara: He never knew I had a second phone hidden in my inner jacket pocket connected to a cloud server.

Captain Vance: That was brilliant thinking, Clara. You set a trap for a wolf, and he walked right into it with his eyes open.

Clara smiled softly, reaching out to touch the yellow petals of the sunflowers on her bedside table.

Clara: My father used to tell me that truth doesn't need a loud voice to be heard. It just needs someone brave enough to stand there until the world listens.

Captain Vance: Your father was a wise man, Clara. And he would be immensely proud of the woman you are today.
